It seems bad time swill never end for me. Yesterday i went to withdraw money from ATM. i needed that as i owe a colleague 1200 INR and have to keep another INR 1500 to buy railway tickets. but when i inserted the card and put password, it accepted. I put my withdraw amount. it was taking long time. i got afraid. and my appreciation came true. i got no money with message like transaction timed out. But next time when i checked balance, it showed with Rs 2700 debited. i got no money. i have written to bank. they say they will come back to me in 8 days. I am not sure, they may say i have to do something, they can't do more.

I had a similar problem a couple of years back. But the bank credited the amount in an hours time or so into my account. Follow up with your bank and I think they will do the needful. Dont worry, have faith....you will get your money back.

Hello subha. I am so sorry that you had such an unpleasant experience with the ATM transaction. But I think that the bank will surely handle it satisfactorily for it. Let's see what will be the result. All the best luck to you, subha.

A similar thing happened to my grandaughter. Her paycheck is direct deposited to her bank. The check had just been deposited and she went to an ATM to get some money.- to buy gas and it said she had insufficient funds. When she went to the bank they told her the money had been taken out to pay loan payments. She doesn't have any loans other than her car and it is always paid on time by check. Further investigation showed that someone else was using her name and Social Security number. This woman had a drivers license in my grandaughters name and had taken out $10,000 of loans in her name in 3 different states - 2 of which my grandaughter has never visited. The bank told her to contact Social Security and get her number changed. Well Social Security told her she would have to have an attorney do all this for her and if she didn't she would have to pay taxes on any earnings that were made under her Social Security number. Come to find out there were 10 people working in this country using her number - illegals I assume. This has been going on 3 months now and it still isn't sorted. They even have a private investigator working on it. The bank did what they could - they gave her a new account and number and a new ATM card but she still hasn;t got back the money that was taken out of her account - plus on top of the money she had to make a considerable payment up front to the attorney.

sad to hear that subha12, but i know you'll get your money back to you, do you keep the last receipt before you withdraw the Rs2700, i think you'll need it also to prove it to the bank that your money get debited...sometimes it really happens not only with you but in other people...but 8 days is too long...hmm...but if that is what the bank said you really need to wait...

Hi Subha,I am also going through same problem but it was just for about INR 280. Yesterday,I checked my account and they had deducted this amount from my account.I don't know why and they didn't even keep me informed.I am trying to reach Customer care but it is hopeless, you know how it is,right? This is just so frustrating for you,I know because I am also going through the same though I am lucky they didn't took away all the money.I don't know why they have deducted, nor they send me any written statement. All I did was I didn't withdraw money from my account for about 1 month.I hope there is no extra charges for not withdrawing money.Anyways, try giving them a call dear,do you have any customer care numbe?or if possible better go to the bank and inquire.I just hope, your problem gets solve quickly and you get back your money safe.

it was really a bad thing. that happened to me also a few months ago.. very disgusting, but what can we do? that was their policy. YES... you have to wait for a week of their investigation before your money comes back to your account. very sad thing right!!! but don't you worry because your money will be back soon, you only have to wait... okey... God Bless you...

I think there is a problem with the ATM and try to get a ministatement or the slip of the debit transaction again and produce to the bank. And you log a call thru customer call centre also by telling them that the money has not delivered to you. Its a short time suffering but i think you will get your money. Dont get panic but make follow up with bank if they not respond in 7 days write to letter thru' registered post to bank also.

Subha
this is so off putting! Did the bank authority contact you? Recently one of friends gone through same but the bank credited the amount within 7 days.
Just keep pursuing, this shouldn't happen or else they would lose their reputation.
Keep us informed.
Good luck!

Oh you really need not worry about it! You willnot loose the money. Just simply go to your branch where from ou got isssued the ATM card and lodge a formal complint will the all the details where you have tried to get the money out with time and date. They will fix the problem within few days . This I am saying so confidently because I also underwent suchthing in the past where I was stuck by about 30,000/- rupees which amount was layer got credited to my account. At that ime I was out of station and fortunately I had few more ATM cards with me which have come to my rescue! Well it is not the question of loosing the money which bothers me but if suppose if I didn't have alternate resourses with me what would have happend to me ? So in nut shell I think India is still not prepared to Electronid money transation as we still have lot of old people as staff who are very inefficient in handling such fast moving electronic world! This is my personal feeling! What do you say ? It was indeed an interesting topic of discussion!

wow that would be very upsetting! ive never had that happen to me, hopefully i never will either!
personally i would have gone straight to the bank itself and sat down with someone about it!
i would call them or go and see the banks customer rep. i dont think i could wait 8 days for them to "get back to me" by that time the whole thing could get lost in the shuffle!
