Use the system restore wizard. If you know the date when your virus attacked. Just restore the system to a previous date. I am not sure it will help. But you can try. Whenever i am attacked by this virus i install a fresh copy of windows.

Some of 'autorun.inf' is a file system problem, but some of it may infected with virus. I suggest you can try download Avira Antivir Personal..it's free.. Avira is one of the best antivirus. I'm sure, the heuristic engine will fix that problem, because i also had the same problem, and avira delete the virus.

I do not agree it's one of the best..I do however that it's one of the most POPULAR. But that doesn't make them the best ;) (doesn't mean avira is a bad one!! but certainly not the best)

install NOD32 or kaspersky , run a full system scan.. & it will clean ur files from autorun..if it deleted the files or quarantined them ..format windows drive with ur windows CD & install a new windows ..after install finish & u logon to ur 1st welcome screen , install antivirus & run it (note : u gonna have to open : start -- run -- & type : cmd ..a command prompt screen appears..then u should type the full path of ur antivirus directory & the file name ..for example D:\programs\AV\nod32_be_us.exe then press enter..setup will install ur antivirus..make a full system scan & u're done again : while system still infected , do NOT open my computer or any folders in windows explorer..autorun spread the best this way

As explained by CinderInMySoul autorun.inf is a valid window file for removable media - CD, DVD & USB drives. A good example of these are installation disc like windows setup disc, when you insert them a program would run and ask you to install it. It is just a plain text file like autoexec.bat, you could open it using notepad, so autorun.inf file itself is NOT a virus, what inside of it maybe point to a virus. If your antivirus is uptodate and its on-file-access is active then you dont have to worry about being infected. Just respond properly to your AV detection prompt, like if it detect something then proceed no more in accessing it. DO NOT IGNORE them, if it offer to clean then do it, if it suggested to delete or move to quarantine then do so. if its in a CD/DVD then don't use it any more.

There has been enough tips about this file, and yes I do think as well that file is infected with some kind of virus. Which makes it still a official windows file, but propably an older virus has infected it. Best way to resolve this problem in my opinion is by deleting this file, and REPLACE it by a clean file from Windows itself. But before replacing, and AFTER deleting I recommend you scan your computer with multiple anti-virus software..To make sure there is no more viruses on your computer. If you'tre 100% sure your computer is clean, THEN replace the file. It should be available on the site of Microsoft.. Good luck!
