I feel Sata suits the best. You should consider upgrading your computer atleast you Ram. 256 MB ram these days are outdated and many programs these days require a minimum of 512 MB ram. If your ram is of DDR1 type,an additional 512MB ram costs around RS.700-800 or $15-17. If its of DDR2 type its much more cheaper. Adding extra hard disk might slow down your computer even more.

your motherboard which say what's hard fits you more..but in general you can have more than a 500 gb hard with no problems!
for sure sata is the best if your mother board supports it

A 7200rpm hardisk speed would be more advisable for your configuration its capacity is dictated by your budget, if your motherboard support SATA then take note of its version and get just that. Brand is of a personal preference and with local support(warranty) so which ever is your comfortable with then use it.

Seagate is the best Hard disk manufacture from last decades now more company also in the market like samsung .
But I prefer seagate is best . use SATA for your Computer 256 GB , 500 GB is best for your requirement . But best outout will be with 1-2 gB RAM on your PC.

I would recommend something not too large for your computer until you can upgrade the system memory (RAM). That being said however, having a larger hard drive does not slow your system down until you begin to fill the hard drive up. Once that happens you will be needing RAM.
You probably don't need more than 250 GB at first, so I would recommend the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS if you motherboard is SATA compatible. If you can only use the IDE interface (thick ribbon cable), I suggest the Western Digital Caviar SE WD800JB. It's smaller at 80 GB, but still is at 7200 RPMs and should do the trick.
More than anything though, I recommend you upgrade your RAM ASAP. Things will be much faster and smoother.
