We have to admit the fact that water plays an important role in the up-keep of human health. We are aware that there are so many water born diseases, so we have to make sure our drinking water is safe. How do you make sure that you are drinking pure water? Do you boil the water before drinking? Do you using a water purifier? Please share your views?

As per medical advice boiling is the best option to get a cleaning drinking water. However, it is not always possible to boil the water. Therefore, we have got a water filter installed at our home to get pure and clean drinking water. The water supplied by the municipal authorities remains contaminated and it is not safe to take it without filtering it. Whenever we go outside, we take our filtered water in a bottle along with us, kids also do the same while going to their school. We prefer not to take water from an unknown source or where we find that it may not be pure, else we buy a bottle of packed water bottle.
Good post!

Yes, I am quite sure that my filter does give me near pure water (we get Ganga water in our house). Boiling is not possible all the time.

I prefer purified water because it is easy here in the U.S. to just attach a water filter to your tap and just get purified water in an instant. Whenever I come to India, I prefer to buy purified water in a big can because I have seen that boiled water gets a murky smell after 2 days and I don't like to drink smelly water .

I don't drink directly from tap.Either we boil it or I buy the distilled can water,I don't trust even the purifiers. Also,I live in an apartment, and they clean the tank only once in a month,so I never use that water.I know it is not good, better to spend a little and stay healthy.Keep posting!

Here in Canada we can bring a sample of our water to a local health unit and they will test it for free. They actually recommend testing every few months and provide the sample bottle also.

I think you missed one point to say that how you purify your water. Do you get pure water at home? I don't know about your water distribution system. I will appreciate a line about the same. I understand one thing that you are using safe water for drinking. Take care and thanks for the response.

Where I live we have a sand point well, the water comes from underground, it's clean, clear and pure, we don't need a purifier. We have it tested regularly and there's absolutely nothing in it.
A little closer to the city the houses have city water which has certain standards it has to pass and is said to safer than bottled water because it's tested constantly.

Yes Sree its true, drinking purified water always helps to reduces diseases to a great extent.....The best way to drink water is to boil it and then cool it before drinking. But since I have started using borewell, these days,I take additional precautions. The boiled and cooled water is poured into a filter before drinking.....And mind you, there is less illness in the family ,and more of good health. Also when travelling we use bottled mineral water. And this is the secret of my good health...pssssssssttttt.......

Hi Sreekala, I agree water safety is very important and in many places water must be boiled before using. I do filter water my drinking water but I believe we have a very safe water supply where I live, so I do not boil it unless advised to do so. Blessings.

Simple. I am not drinking water which directly came out of a faucet. We are drinking distilled water and we are buying it from water distributor here in our area. Before, we are all used to drinking water from a faucet and then we noticed we all got gastroenteritis. The doctor suggested that we changed our water supply so we did it and we all feel lot better now. If I am dining outside, I prefer to buy drinks in bottle than go for a free drink.

We are buying bottled mineral water for our drinks. I don't find the water in the faucet safety and the taste I hate because it is chlorinated. Heating them deprived us of the natural taste as well so I prefer mineral water. The Watson mineral water is expensive but I find the taste good.

Well, the first thing my parents did to make sure our water is potable is to have it tested. Before we had some basic filtration systems in our house, and after filtering we would boil the water. But since my uncle put up his own water purification business, we just decided to get our drinking water from there since it is more convenient for us.

Here in Indonesia most of them (specially at village) having their own water source. You just dig the land for about 10 meter than the pure water come out. But now after capitalism go to every where the big company such as Danone suck all water on earth :(. I hate this they dont care about how to keep enviroment safe they only think about money, big fish etc. I hope the USA monetary crisis now wake up all people who make capitalism as a GOD. Capitalism = racist

Ok in villages in India also have their own water sources like Well, Pond etc. But earlier we also simply drink the water without boiling it. We never had any problem but now all are using the water after boiling it otherwise it makes problem. I don't know the exact reason. May be your argument is right. I don't have any idea about your place so it is wise to keep silent. Thanks for sharing the views take care.

I think boiling the water makes it so safer than by any other methods. If there is something wrong with our water purifying system, then there is always a risk in that.

Our freezer has a ice maker with a part that the water comes out of. It has a filter on it so I guess it is kind of like a water purifier. I usually drink the water out of there. Occasionally I will buy bottled water but I don't do that very often. I usually drink it out of the freezer water maker thing. I remember not to long ago the ice maker wasn't working on it and neither was the water, that was more of a hassle than I thought it was going to be. I couldn't keep enough ice for everyone.
