What's the deal with posting referral links?

Hi, I am a newish member here.
When I first joined up I admit I did post a few referral links in my discussions, a couple of members picked up on this and told me it was not allowed. So since then I have not done this, instead asking members to send me private messages for the links when appropriate.
But, I see so many referral links posted in discussions and not just by new members either. Today I was discussing a service and suggested that a member send me a message so I could send them a link, but before I could send the message another member jumped in with a response posting their own referral link directly onto my discussion!!
Anyway what is the official line on this and how strictly is it enforced my mylot?

Referral links in discussions are not allowed, period.
It is enforced if they are found. If myLot admin finds them, they get deleted. If someone reports them, they will likely be deleted (I know admin is busy so I don't know how much time they spend on this).
Some people still try to sneak them in, thinking the potential benefit is worth the risk. All they do is ruin it for the rest of us, because if the entire discussion is deleted, then everyone that posted there loses.

If the only violation in a discussion is a response with one offending link then ONLY THAT RESPONSE will be deleted and the rest of the discussion will remain intact.

That wasn't always the case, and then they supposedly changed it as we noticed some responses disappearing but the original discussion remained intact.
I'm not sure they are still doing that, as I've seen a lot of discussions disappear that I know there was no violation in the original post.

I doubt the delete discussions that contain no violation but there are many violation which users, even more veteran users, seem to overlook.
A disucssion asking for a referral exchange is NOT a discussion whether or not it contains links.
A so called discussion which says 'pm me' ruins any chance of it becoming a discussion and goes.
Repeated topics go. How many times on one page do we see the same site mentioned once they come or go? Only the first discussion is safe.
I have read very carefully what is enclosed within the Guidelines and I do NOT see discussions which contain no violations being deleted.

This is an unfortunate case and should not have happened. I don't feel it is right for anyone to thrust in someone's post especially when there is a dealing going on. Maybe you can report it to mylot and let them handle the case. But of course I will only deal with the post that I responded to.

Posting a link containing a referral ID is a violation.
A discussion or response containing this violation will be deleted.
This may not be immediately as MyLot staff could be elsewhere at the time but these DO get removed and all earnings pertaining to the discussion concerned would be lost.
If you start a discussion with no links and a responder inserts a link later on then YOU can ask that this response is deleted by hitting the (!) icon next to the response concerned. It would then be removed leaving the rest of the discussion intact.
When in the money interesta you want to share a site with other users it must be in the form of a discussion and NOT a promotion asking users to send you a pm for the link. This sort of pseudo discussion also gets deleted even though it may contain no links.
Links may be placed in profiles and you could then suggest users go there.
Hope this helps and happy posting!

I would post my link to my forum on here thinking it was ok because it wasn't a referral link and I wasn't selling anything but I now direct people to my website because you do have to respect the rules and be aware that it is considered spamming and other people don't like it but I do agree that others do post their referral link but I didn't think Mylot had such things has violations but now thanks to your discussion I do...
