United States

I have been hearing a lot about the economy here in the US and how it affects all the countries worldwide. I am just curious, do other countries follow the Presidential debates and the elections of the US canidates for President and Vice President?

I know some of the other countries follow what is happening here in the U.S. The U.S. owes money to some of the other countries and they may like to know what is going on here with that if we get a new president.

I heard on the news the other night how much we owed to China. I forget now how much it was but it was an huge amount. I just don't know why we borrowed from them in the first place.

I like to keep up with it as what goes on in the US does seem to affect the rest of the world in some way even though we have no vote, all we can do is hope the people in the US make the right decision whatever it is...

To Be honest, right now I dont like our choices for President. I have never missed an election since I turned 18 and could vote. But I am really concerned this election. I will vote and I know who I am voting for but I dont dont like it. He is the lesser of two evils in my opioion. Scary stuff

I found your discussion a little too late, but I'm going to respond to it all the same. Here in Uruguay we read a lot about both candidates, their speechs, the chances each one had to win the Presidence and so on. Most uruguayans were happy with Obama's election.

we do in canada if we want to, because we get american stations, and we get a synopsis of the debates after they happen on local news. I don't really follow that much, I have my own canadian elections to worry about right now. How many americans follow what is going on with their neighbour to the north?

Hi Villageanne, I think so. I made friends on a social site from Canada. They informed me they watched our elections and news closer than they watched their own. For sure what happens here effects the stock markets. I'm sure they are on pins and needles the past few weeks wondering what we are going to do about this bailout. Some of the friends I met on BT and Gather have said they're pulling for one or the other candidate. I don't know that we in America do the same. I can only name a handful of leaders in other countries. And certainly don't keep up with elections in other countries. How about you?

I think more people outside the US follow what is going on more then we follow what is going on in other countries.

Whether i was in Canada, or in the United States, I always knew what was going on with the presidential races. Also, I listened to the BBC World Service at night, and they broadcast the election news too, so they are obviously following them in Britian, and that being the WORLD service suggests that other countries were paying attention too.
