Sometimes, Target just has the cutest things right inside their front door!

Went to Target yesterday to get some household supplies and could not believe some of the cool stuff they had on those shelves that are right inside their front door. I went nuts over these writing journals they had that were covered in the most lovely Asian-looking, rich fabrics. They had matching pens!
They all had an Asian print on them but they were in a variety of colors--a rich burgundy red, a deep sage green, a very deep purple, and the loveliest turquoise you ever saw! They were beautiful! And with that matching pen! I bought 8 of them. They will make the most lovely gifts and the cost was so inexpensive that I won't even mention it here.
I also bought 2 pairs of "readers"--the little half-glasses that I wear when I've got my contacts on when I need to do close reading. They were $1 a piece!! Tell me the truth, do you buy the little trinkets and things inside the front door at Target? Or do you pass them by? Will you stop to look?

I buy alot at the dollar section! They sometimes even have great stickers for scrapping in that area and other cool things. Last year I bought a hat there to wear while out on the pontoon to keep from getting sunburned....and guess what....it lasted a whole year! My granddaughter loved to play dress up with it. Now I wish I would have kept it but oh well....I got some good pictures of her in it and she had a ball!

Which one? THe first one is about a late term abortion that survives called An Ax in the Sandbox.....the second...To Touch a Heart is a collection of poetry and short stories and the new on WHICH I HAVE NOW ALMOST FINISHED WOO HOO!!! Is a romance about a girl that looks at man through rose colored glasses and ends up being stuck in disappointing relationships..except for the end of course! I am sooooo excited!

Now there's a great Target story! That sounds like the best sun hat ever. They do take a beating, so if yours lasted a whole year, including your granddaughter's dress-ups, it must have been a good one. Hope they have hats again so you can replace it. They just have the neatest assortment of trinkets in there.
Hey, I wanted to ask you what your book is about. I am just curious.

Hi pearl, I was in Target on Saturday too! Of course it was
the one in White Plains, NY! I think I might have seen the
journals out of the corner of my eye but the store was
really crowded and I had already been shopping in the mall
and then in Walmart and Target was going to be the last
stop because my feet and back were killing me. We were
walking kind of fast to get where we needed to be which
was in the department where we could get a computer desk
and pillow shams and dust ruffle for the bed. But, I do
think I remember sort of seeing them but not being able
to stop. I love to look at those kinds of things that they
put right where they want you to stop and look and normally
I would except I hate going shopping there on the weekend
because of the crowds and it was already about 6:00. I
usually go during the week by myself when the store it less
crowded. I happened to be there with my bf because he
had a dentist appointment so we were shopping together
which we rarely do.

Hey, Opal! It is good to see you on myLot! I haven't seen you around for a few days. I know you must have been busy. Your Target sounds so crowded! Ours usually doesn't get that way but I do live in a little podunk town! Hope you got some nice pillow shams and dust ruffle. Target sure is a great place to shop.
Anyhoo, your plan of going there during the week when fewer people are there sounds like a good one. We do get an influx of people when all the snowbirds return for the winter. And this is about the time of year they start trickling back. By January 1st, all our streets will be clogged with cars! Still, snowbirds often don't work so they are moving about all hours of the day and night, not just evenings and weekends like the rest of us.

Hey Pearl, I'm always here! I never miss a day! I know
about the snowbirds! My mom started out as one 25+ years
ago! I will probably be visiting sometime this winter
myself for a brief visit. I was there once around the
holidays and it was so funny to see Santa dressed in shorts!

I do stop and check it out when I go there. I don't stop there very often, as they are really out of my way.

We tend to go to Target on Sunday mornings when we are out and about for coffee and just want to stretch our legs or pick up a few items. They have some great stuff. Plus their pricing seems reasonable. Thanks and take care.

You're driving me crazy! Our Target doesn't open until October 12th! Don't know why I'm so excited, I don't have any $ anyway.

Hello writersedge. Are you getting a SuperTarget? If so, I'm gonna be so jealous. Ours is a regular Target, with just a few grocery items. If we were geting a SuperTarget, I'd have a fit! Well, the good news is that you don't need much money to shop at Target. Take care.

They are going to be where the old Ames was and they built a whole bunch onto it, so I think it is a SuperStore. So get jealous, you know you want to, ha, ha.

I always stop and look at that section when I go into a Target if I have time to spare. If I am just running in to grab one thing then I pass it by. I have gotten some cool stuff from that section before too. GREAT stocking stuffers.

Hi lilybug. Yes, you never know what Target is going to have on those shelves. Many times, there are toys and things that I wouldn't be interested in. This time, I just went nuts over those journals and eyeglasses! Yes, for people who fill stockings at Christmas time, I can see how this would be a great area to shop. Thanks and take care.

I've always enjoyed shopping at Target (moreso than Kmart or Walmart), but I never knew about the bargain stuff at the front of the store until my son's girlfriend told me. She was always finding some of the neatest things. Now that's my first stop when I get into the store.

Hi kenzie45230.
That's cool that your son's girlfriend clued you in about the bargains in the front section of Target. I love to browse that little area. Oftentimes, I don't buy anything there as there are toys and other trinkets I wouldn't use. But this time, they had some great and very usable stuff for me. Take care.

Sounds like you found a bargain, I like finding bargains like that too. Well I don't get to shop at target because we don't have one where I live, if I wanted to, I would have to drive about 45 mins to the nearest one. I would probably buy the things inside the door if I found something I liked.

Hi walijo2008.
I'm sorry you don't have a Target. There's just something fun about them. I don't know if it's the extra bright overhead lights, the extra wide shopping aisles, or what, but I do love to go there. They have some great, fun bargains on trinkets just inside the front door of nearly every Target I've ever been in.

Target is my favorite store. Yes, I go through the front part first, then get the things I need. I also find merchandise that I wasn't looking for. I love their stationery department (also buy the notebooks). The windup is that it's a good thing I have a Target Visa credit card.

Hi JanetBRudman. I can see how Target would be your favorite store. Even my husband likes to go there because they have such great plants and gardening items, which he loves. I don't think I'll ever be able to pass by that front section again, after my latest trip there. The stationery dept. is nice. That's cool that you've got a Target charge card.

I love Target. It is often my one stop shopping center. Their stuff is quality and they have everything I need and usually the cheapest around. I agree their bargain shelves right inside the front door have really neat things and the prices are unbelieveable. I love target.

Hi mpjen8981.
I can see how many people would find Target to have pretty much whatever they need. We do not have a SuperTarget, so ours just has a few grocery items. I do sometimes pass the bargain shelves at the front but after my last visit, I think I'm always gonna check them out. I like their Book department and I love looking at all their digital cameras!
