I don't believe anyone should ever trust a politician a hundred percent, by their nature they work for politics..which means they never fully work for you, no matter how good a person they are. They've their own interests on top of yours, if they pay attention to yours at all. I hold politicians running for positions of the highest power with the same regard as lower level politicians who're in positions of power locally, instead of nationally. I neither trust nor distrust them, as a rule. I just hold them all to the same standard and work to make sure they behave. Isn't that all we can really do?

I've learnt from bitter experience that one simply can't trust politicians. No doubt there are some who go into politics for good reasons and try and do the best they can. Sadly, too many of them get swallowed up by the system and are leant on to toe the party line and then forget their promises and their constituents. All politicians twist the truth, the question is to what extent. One just has to go with the one whose policies you are most in agreement with with the proviso that you are satisfied that that politician is not an out and out crook!

some do and some don't and those who don't are always elected by the people and those who do are elected but not such to make a government. so we are like hanging.. if i get the opportunity of becoming a leader then i will not make any promise that i can't fulfill and i will act rather than speaking. hopefully i won't get a chance!!

Of course NOT. Politician... Politics is a game of the influential. These days, I don't believe in promises made by them anymore. Everything is like a MARKETING STRATEGY... they sell themselves to voters... and whether they make it on the election or not, the voters are always on the losing side. Do I have a plan of becoming one? Of course not ! Never... I believe that, if someone really cares for his country men and if someone really wants to make a difference for others, he does not have to be politician, he does not have to make promises... everyone has a fair chance of making the country a better place to live... and not a place of broken promises...

Some promises are made only to get votes and the politician has no intention of keeping them. Some promises were made with good intentions, but the politician doesn't have total say in the matter. There's a congress or a parliament who also have a say. I have no desire what so ever to get into politics.

No, they don't keep their promises. But how can that be changed? I feel that the "campaign trail" is like putting in an application for a job. They should be held accountable for their "application" as in any other job. If you lie on an application, make major distortions, you are fired. Once accountability to the American people is put into politics we will have more responsible politicians. Not sure how we could implement it, but its what is needed. "... With great power comes greater responsibility" is a misnomer in today's political field, lies, cheating, stealing, being bought is the way it is
