my friend became a grandmother at the age of 26, a step grandmother, her other half is 40 years old and his son and his girlfriend had a baby yesterday.
what do you think of this?
i have seen a lot of discussions on does age matter
so here is a good example..of age difference!

My daughter's father is almost 40, and I myself am 23. So, honestly, the age difference thing doesn't matter to me. I think as long as two ADULTS are consenting and willing, then all is good.
As far as becoming a step grandmother at 26....My daughter's father is a grandfather to 3 beautiful little girls. So, again, I see no problem with that....

i became a grandma when i was 3 or four years old for i have nephews on nieces from cousins who are older than me. so when those nieces and nephews got married and had kids this nephews and nieces of mine tell their off springs that we are their grandma or grandpop. i just turned an auntie weeks ago but i hope i wont turn into a grandma (from my own children) that soon.

Congratulate the new parents and the new parents. When a person is of an adult age I see nothing wrong with the age difference. My husband is older than I am but not that big of a difference, he is 7 years older.
As long as the couple in love and together for the right reasons I say more power to them.

That should be good at school play's or things in school. Hey isn't my grandme hot. LOL. got to love that. My girlfriend had a baby at 39. the same month as her daughter had her first baby. So you have the uncle and nefew play togeither all the time. But the age thing no. My sousin married a man that was 59 and she was 20. He was great. He passed on at 65 but they had one son and she loved him a great deal. She alway's was older then her age. Your friend onlydia

Hi matt,
wow...very young..LOL! ANyway, I heard a lot of friends who hates to be called Grandma even in their 40's, so most of them trained their grandkids to call them Mom also..LOL! But, it they love having these kids in their lives! I am sure your friend will just feel like this is her daughter...LOL!

Does your friend have children of her own? If not, that might be a little wierd to tell people you are a grandmother before you are even a mother.*L*
But, if she gets on with her stepchildren, she will most certainly love being a grandmother, even at her young age.

I was gonna say how could she be 26 and be a grandmother. That would make her like 12 or 13 when she had her kid and then that kid would have to be 12 or 13 to have been a grandmother. So it is her husband's kid that had a baby. Man, that's a young grandmother.

To me age does not matter, the way I see it is that if she is happy with her hubby and she is proud enough to not care how old his son is and how young she becomes a grandmother then that is all that matters. I have seen so many people that are within this age range and they say that they could never be any happier. I think she is a very strong person not to care what others think and that is great. Tell her I said congrats on her new grand baby.
