SAHM Calling In Sick

So I am a SAHM. Today I woke up so sick. Nausea and Diarrhea .. oh kill me now. So what can I do? Can't call in sick. I chug a bottle of pepto and then I'm up getting the baby dressed and fed. Ugg doing the dishes from the night before...uggg, trying to get myself ready for the day.... brushing our teeth and then finally I collapse onto the couch. As I watch him scoot around the floor the guilt comes in. I can't lie on the couch all day. So up up and away to story time at the public library. Now we are home and he is down for a nap and I get to have some more pepto for lunch. I don't know if I can make it through the day, but what are my choices. In one hour his speech therapist will be here. Do you have any advice for a SAHM that needs a sick day?

Bless your heart. It sounds to me that a ministry was born with this post. I'm going to call my church and suggest that we offer day care for SAHMs who are too sick to deal with kids. If you worked outside the home, you could surely call in sick. As a SAHM you should have some options.

That is not a bad idea to have a babysitter for mom's that are to sick at the present time to take care of bavy's or make the dad take a sick day of his own to help with the baby. He helped get it here why not put his fanny to work helping out with the baby if you can not get someone to help come in and do for the baby so it does not get sick. If the bavy is sick while you are at the same time you are really asking for a mess.

That would be a real service. It really touches me that you would do that. Your church sounds like a wonderful organization. Thanks for posting

I know how you feel I was just recently sick as a dog and on top of it my baby was too. All she wanted to do was cry. I felt so bad for being sick and her being sick. She also teething. Had an ear ache. Didn't want to sleep cause she could breath very well when she sleeped. The only advice I have is if you have someone that will watch the baby for you for little bit that might be a thought. That way the baby don't get sick too. Happy Mylotting!!!!

I would hope maybe you had a relative or a close girlfriend to help you out. I understand some of them may have their own kids, or maybe their own jobs, but I wish every stay at home mom had someone to back them up on a day when they really should be out of commission and in bed resting.

I should have called a friend. I wish I was better at asking for favors. I really hate to put people out.

I hear ya! I have been a sahm for the past 16 yrs ~ also a wahm. I run a daycare, so I can never call in sick either. Isn't it funny how we just keep going on whether we are sick or not. It's what we have to do! No advice, just rest when the baby is resting and try to get to bed early tonight.

Have you not got any familly close by that may be able to lend a hand hun? even if it is just for a hour watching the kids while you grab a nap or something you will feel better for it. if not then i dont no what to suggest apart from do what you have to do and dont feel guilty for not doing as much as you do when you are well i wish you a speedy reovery and all the best Lucy

I appreciate your words. I am so lucky to have my mother-in-law close by, but sadly she is busy today. I think I might just lay on the couch and order dinner in tonight. Its a good thing my son is so independent.
