One of the Greatest Country Singers of all time?

I live in Hendersonville, Tennessee, which is where Johnny and June Carter Cash lived until their passing a few years ago. I am within walking distance of their final home and everytime I pass it, I am reminded of them, and of the incredible mark they left on country music. You cannot go very far throughout Nashville without seeing some reminder of their lives. Their music can be heard everywhere down here. There are posters, merchandise and all sorts of tributes to the legendary "Man In Black" throughout Nashville and the surrounding areas. What I want to know is if Johnny Cash has as much of an impact on people outside of Nashville? He is still a legend here and will always be that way. He is also one of my absolute favorite country singers of all time. I just wonder what everyone else feels about him? Is his music still relevant today?? Is it still listened to on a regular basis by people across the country and around the world??? On a side note, if you ever come to Nashville, take the drive up to Hendersonville and visit "Cash Country". While his home burned down during renovations a couple of years ago, it is still humbling to stand at the gates of this famous home and realize you are in the presence of greatness. I have also been to his and June's grave, and it is awesome to see the items left behind by people from all over the world who have stopped to pay homage to this incredible couple from country music's past.

I remember the first time I ever heard of Johnny Cash. He was on the Ed Sullivan TV show and he sang, "I Walk the Line." I was a fan supreme after that. Yes, he's a legend in places other than Tennessee. Many people loved him and love his memory and his music.

How cool it must have been to see him on the Ed Sullivan Show. To see a living legend in the prime of his career.

I grew up listening to Johnny Cash, I never played his music when my kid were little because (it wasn't) cool. We were going on a road trip in a borrowed car that had a casset in it, well it was the only music we had. My kids spoke up wanting to hear A Boy Named Sue. I have no idea how they new of Johnny Cash and was very suprized when they told me they thought he was cool. Now days my heart misses the old country songs and I drive everyone nuts listening to them.

I have lived in Hendersonville, TN or over 5 years and I have fished many times behind his house, it was beautiful and it is still a blessing to troll by! I have pictures of the house before and after from the water if anyone would like them?!?!?! Thanks!

I live in Nashville and my family was very close with the Cash family. I love all the reminders of them around town. It's so sad to hear about the house burning down though.

Johnny Cash is my favorite Country singer of all time. A lot of people I know listen to his music. I live in Western PA and we are all a bunch of rednecks... lol! But, Johnny Cash is classic, not just country.

Johnny Cash is one of my all time favorites! both my boys can play a little of some of his songs on guitar (they love him too) and we listen to his music on cd's and the radio still plays his songs once in a while. By the way, we're in northern ontario, canada. I would love to visit Nashville someday!
