Hello everyone! I just found this topic (Candle Making) for discussions. I have to admit, I am a candle burning fool. I bet I spend 50.00 a month or more on candles. I love a room with just candle light, and I love the smell of them burning. My favorites are the kitchen scents, cinnamon buns, apple pie, pumpkin pie... I never even thought of making my own candles. I am going to have fun learning from all of you! So, for a newbie, just getting into making candles, what do I need? I am not going to be making them for sale, just for my own personal use. Thanks, Nocturnica

Hi Nocturnica: where were you when I was trying to sell candles?? LOL! I would've loved to have you buy $50.00 a month from me (G)! I loved the product I was trying to sell, had precious little luck here in my small town I live in, even my stingy butt family wouldn't help me out and buy any... but I too love to burn them, especially here where I live, there is always someone in the unit next to me that SMOKES and it seeps into my unit via the AC/FAN units I HATE IT! SO I burn and I burn and then I have no money to buy any to burn..(sigh)!

I too am in a small town, and I hate it here something awful! But it is true, I spend right around $50.00 per month on candles, sometimes more if i find something I really like. I burn candles everyday, from the time I get up, until I go to bed, in every room of my house. Today I have the scent of Cinnamon Buns throughout my entire house. Tomorrow I plan to go with "Grandam's Cookies", one of my favorites.

Have you tried Candles By Vcitoria? I have been buying candles from this companay for about 6 months now and I just can't get enough. They have over 500 scents and I love that I can shop at night at home in my Pj.s :) They have the most amazing Pumpkin Pie Spice candle I have ever smelled, when I got it home and burned it the first time my family actually thought I was baking a Pumpkin Pie! She also has some great sales from time to time so be sure to sign up for their newsletter, oh and I just found her message board too, she gives aways free candles twice a month. I can't say enough about this candle company, you won't be sorry, www.candlesbyvictoria.com

I remember making candles with my mom. Best thing to use is beeswax as it burns better and you can get instruction books on how to make all kinds of different kinds of candles. One word of advice though..Dont use crayons!! lol My mom and i had this bright idea that crayons are wax, they melt, they come in great colors, so lets try using them. We will just add a cinnamon stick to the wax to make it smell good.. Great in theory, not so much in practice.. Yes they melted...Made beautiful candles. The cinnamon sticks looked cute and smelled great... THEY DIDNT BURN WELL AT ALL. They ended up being for display only!! lol But we did have a great time trying our idea.. And had some gorgeous display candles when we were done...Just couldnt USE them at all. lol Good Luck with yours.
