I just read from gmanews.tv that she just quitted as the Philippines' official representative to the 2008 Miss World Beauty Pageant. She cited the recent death of his grandfather as her reason for resigning. Your thoughts?

When I read about that news earlier, the first thing came into my mind is she's COWARD. Because of all the negatives that has been said over her poor grammar, that poor lady makes her detractors win. The reason is very unreasonable, I could give a very good example in the person of Ely Buendia and I don't have to further explain it. Anyone can still learn good grammar but not anyone can have her looks, right? People sorrounds her must give her the moral support because this young lady is afraid to be burned again. She learned her lesson the hardest way. MORAL OF THE STORY: Focus on studies, you students! for you will never know that being poor in grammar might take away your dreams.

This is such a very nice and motherly advice for those that have the looks but does not have the needed intelligence to carry on her physical looks. Sometimes good looks are not enough to please the judges. But lucky her she was able to convince the judges she deserves the title. But for those that are aspiring to be beauty queens brains is also needed to successfully be accepted in that title.

I quite agree that students must seriously study. It has been said that she's a mass communications student, and yet she hasn't mastered the English basic grammar. She should have recognized the limit of her ability and spoke her mother tongue instead.

doesn't she have better excuse for this.. why would someone as herself who dreamed of being a titlist reliquish her throne? i have nothing against her but why?after all the negative publicity she's had since her reign, she made herself again the talk of the town.. it's ironic how others would state that they would pursue their dreams in memory of departed loved ones.. hope she finds peace..

I agree with you. Wait, what are the other bad publicities she has had besides her grammar?

She's immature. In our country, where religion gets more of the favor, she could have taken the belief that her grandpa has transcended to the place of eternity then could have been more stronger and competitive because of it. But sorry for her, she chose the weaker side.

I just read this at pep.ph... and i think the reason she gave is too shallow... and she just can't tell people that she chickened out of the Miss World competition... with all the detractors she had when she won... they should be happy... because they feel that she cannot carry the name of our country with her bad grammar...

Laughing out loud at "with her bad grammar" :) I really do think that she should have answered in Tagalog, instead.

I don't know if it's true or not. maybe they think that Janina isn't ready yet for the competition, that is why they just made an excuse.

this is a sad news. how can a girl let go of an opportunity just like that. yes, she can grieve, maybe the BPCI can give her time to mourn. but maybe after the nine days, she can start training againg. Im sure her grandfather will be happy if still she will pursue the pageant. but that was her decision, we will just respect it.

I agree. When is the Miss World competition again? If the flight is today, then that's hard.
