my eldest daughter's bday is coming up and i am thinking of how should i make her birthday party? or should i? her day falls on a monday, october 20 so my husband insists we do it in her school( its how it is here in the Philippines) we give the kids food and balloons at school..just her and her class of course! But i also want her to enjoy, she might not enjoy it at all when it is just in school/..how about at home? any ideas how should i do it? decorations? balloons? what kind? and anyone knows a good recipe for a birthday cake? i know how to bake so i want to do it myself, ive been searching for a recipe at the internet but then im afraid to try it so i want one that is tested and proven! any mom's can help me?:D but i also want it simple, as long as she is enjoying and happy and in the budget too...hehehe

Hi Jazel! How old is your daughter? To make planning easy, I suggest you come up with a theme. Let's say, your theme is Hello Kitty. You can make all the birthday items related to that. The decors, the giveaways, the prizes and even your daughter's attire. For the decors, if you know how to layout graphics using Photoshop, maybe you can make a tarpaulin banner with the theme plus your daughter's picture in it. This will serve as the backdrop of the venue's stage or front area. You can also order balloons from party suppliers. If you have the budget, you can order decorative balloon sculptures like balloon arch or balloon centerpieces for the party tables. Try this site: http://yanple.multiply.com --- they offer affordable packages for party decors. Doing it at home is a practical choice. You can invite 15-20 kids (with guardians), have it in the afternoon (2-5pm) and serve meryenda food like spaghetti, pancit bihon/canton, chicken lollipops, kakanin like puto/kutsinta, and drinks can be sago & gulaman. If you're preparing for 30 people (kids & adults), this would cost less than 10k including the cakes and balloons. You can also try ordering these food from a caterer. I usually order from CCME food stuff (www.homemadefoodstuff.com). They have meryenda packages as low as 1,800 for 20 persons. Just check out their website. If you can stretch your budget a bit, you can also rent food carts that has fish balls, squid balls, hotdog on stick, etc. Yanple has this, I think. As for the cake, I don't bake so, if it was my daughter having a birthday, I would order in Red Ribbon. If you're going to bake it yourself, you might want to buy a figurine as a cake topper that is related to the theme. Good luck on party planning!

yeah, I used to be a wedding planner but I quit when I decided to have a baby. Now, my daughter is 10 months and I'm preparing for her birthday party as well. I love planning parties, so this question really got me all excited! lol!

I don't see any reason why you can't have your daughter celebrate at school and then again at home. Get some balloons and decorate your house. Make her a cake and decorate it with something she loves. My daughter loves care bears so her last birthday cake I made and then decorated it with care bears. You can make it a fun day all around for her.

You could take her to her favorite place for dinner or cook her favorite meal for a special dinner. Maybe let her invite one or two friends who she is close with. If there is a special place she wants to go, like to a museum or something you could take her there instead of buying a lot of decorations. Plus, bringing some cupcakes to school is not a bad idea so she can celebrate some with her friends.

its a good idea to do have it celebrated in school since it is a monday and they are kids. but i suggest it that you do it as a SUPRISE, she does not know anything about it, just coordinate with her teacher and have things fixed and let the teacher control the students from going out of the classroom for lunch :)
