hello fellow mylotters, since Christmas holiday would surely mean a 2 week vacation from work i am thinking of spending it for a vacation out of the country. on the other hand this would mean that i can't spend the holiday with my family and closest friends. if your were on my shoe would you consider it or would you travel and spend your vacation on another time and not during this very special holiday?

When I was 20 I was traveling around the world and I was in Australia at Christmas time. It felt wonderful to go swimming on a palm fringed beach in sunny Queensland. I was 30 when I went to New Zealand for Christmas and I had an amazing day going on on a boat to see and swim with dolphins. It is lovely to spend Christmas at home with family however once in a while it is excellent to go overseas and spend it in a sunny location. Prices can be high for holidays at Christmas and New year time. When I went to New Zealand I left home in November so got a cheap fare. If I could afford to do some a trip abroad at Christmas time would be the perfect thing for me to do. If you do go away for a two week holiday at Christmas I hope that you will really enjoy it.

I ALWAYS want to go away for my birthday - which happens to be Christmas Day. Since our children are grown, we really have little reason to hang around here. I'd like to do it before we have any grandchildren because then I'll want to be around for them.

One year we went on 10 day cruise to Hawaii and stayed a week before. We were with friends and celebrated Christmas on the cruiseship. Two other Christmas Holidays we spent in Florida. I had a bridal shop and that was the only time I closed the store. I had a little "pre holiday" dinner before we left. Besided The Christmas holidays are a season so why not leave and party before or after?

Hi Kenchiprincess, I usually prefer not to travel anywhere during festive seasons. Firstly, it's because I really enjoy celebrating these festivals with my family (parents and siblings). Secondly, I hate being caught in traffic jams, long queues and crowds. And this is usually during the year end when it is Christmas, Year End, schoolterm breaks plus almost everyone is on vacation!
Anyway, have fun wherever you are planning to go!

Definitely!! I would really want to spend my vacation outside the country. I mean I would like to travel back to my country to be with my family and friends there but the problem is... the fare is too expensive now. I would consider it, next time but not this Christmas. Maybe I would have to spend Christmas on another state just for a change. LOL. It's nice to travel but with the gas prices and everything going up almost everyday? We need to be practical.
