Just saw this article stating a list of 20 books every woman should read. I looked at the list and I just read one. Actually I shouldn't say one because I didn't get to finish it.:( Here is the link to article: http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/entertainment/20-books-every-woman-should-read-267338/ How about you how many have you read? Is your favorite book in the list?

Great list! I've read eighteen of them, and all were well worth the cost and time. I'll be looking for the other two, just because they share a list with books I've loved!

Wow eighteen! Good for you. What are the two books that you have missed? From the list what is for you the best? I'm quite unlucky with list though, I just got to read 1/2 of Pride and Prejudice and in the book "1001 books you must read before you die" i only got to read 1 (Les Miserables) and 1/2 again for Pride and Prejudice. Thanks for sharing and hope you find that two you had left behind. :)

I guess perhaps I should go in search of some of these books.

I'll be looking for Wide Sargasso Sea and A Thousand Acres in the near future. ike the idea of reading the whole list, since I've read most of it. Ithrough stages that make one the best sometimes, when it's another at other times. Flannery OcConnor is always good for a rainy day!

Well, I checked out the list of books for women, and I have to admit, I haven't read any on that list. And didn't really see any that I would want to read. I do read alot and have many books in my home, but, none from that list. My favorite book is not on the list, Marley and Me, a book that any dog lover needs to read. It is funny, sad, and a book that you just can't put down, I think I read it in two sittings.

Hi there I checked out the link I have read 2 on the list. The shipping news I read when I was in high school. It was good and I got an A on the report I had to pass in, but, I would not say it is a book that every woman should read...i don't remember much of it but it didn't seem to be about poering woman or anything like that. I also tried to read pride and Predidise...sorry not a good speller. I could not get into it....sorry jane...not my fortay....but I don't think there is any list that every gender should "have" to read. I just read what sounds good and if i can't get into it it doesn't get read...you want a good read try Greg Isle...blood memory what an amazing book. Also they have these true stories about children in foster care in the united states....very powerful books. thanks for listening mag

Yeah hope jane would forgive you for the wrong spelling and forgive me for not finishing her book. haha. I think Shipping News was also mentioned by one of the respondents in this discussion if I'm not mistaken it was Piscesmoon (hope got that right). Well I think she told that she had watched the movie. It must be nice a book. Thank you for suggesting Greg Isle, try to look for it. ;)

I read three books on that list Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. I just finished reading Pride and Prejudice for like the third time a week ago, its my favorite novel. I didn't really care for Madame Bovary, and i love Jane Eyre, its the book that got me started reading classics.

Have you watched the mini series and the movie based on Pride and Prejudice? I heard it is nice. I envy you for finishing Pride and Prejudice. I started reading it when i was a kid and haven't finished it. I can't find my book now, maybe got offended that i did not finished it and ran away from home. lol! Happy reading!

I have watched it. I have watched a lot of versions of it that have been made into movies. I think the same thing happened to my copy of Wuthering Heights. I got two thirds of the way through it and thought it was crap and put it aside to finish later, and the book is now lost.

I think I only read like one on the list, but I browsed through the men's list out of curiosity and I read more on the men's list than the women's list. Strange or what? Maybe because most of them was either required reading for English classes.

Well I haven't browsed the list of books for men. Maybe I should and like you I may find myself more interested in the books listed there. Thanks for sharing that information to us. Happy Mylotting.

I read a lot - fiction and non - and I haven't read ANY of those. I wonder how they decide which books to list?

I haven't read any of those books either, nor do any of them interest me. As for my favourite book, I don't really have any one favourite. I have a bunch of favourite authors whose books I enjoy. And when I step outside the box and read other authors I usually enjoy their's too. I won't go out of my way to find any of those books when I have over 200 unread books sitting here at home for me to choose from.

Haven't read a one of them, don't plan on it either, not a single SF amoung them. Have read "The Eyre Affair"... it kind of uses Jane Eyre in the plot....

Hi Leixa, very interesting list; I've only read two of the books, Jane Eyre and Pride & Prejudice. I've heard of Madame Bovary, but haven't seen it around. Anyway, I'll enjoy looking for the rest of the books!

I've read 5 of the 20. Some of the books, I have no desire to read.
