I prefer mashed! Yummy! I also like it plain without any gravy.

I like both. Need a little salt, pepper, and butter on both of them.
I am in the mood for mashed tonight! Sometimes I take shredded cheese and mix into my mashed potatoes, those are live heaven when I do that.

Baked or pan fried. One easy thing I do is, using red potatos because they're more dense and don't get so mushy... I dice them. I sometimes pre-steam them in the microwave since reds take longer to cook through, that way I don't burn the outside trying to get it cooked all the way through. Then I get the pan hot with butter or a light oil, then throw them in & sprinkle chili powder & onion powder, little bit salt/pep, maybe garlic (sometimes I get carried away and just want it all). Reason I get the pan hot 1st is to try to crisp the outside. If you cook these too slowly trying to get it to cook through, then the outside will get mushy overcooked, or just burned. I get them good & crispy on the outside and relatively firm inside this way. Just be careful throwing wet potatos into the hot oil. Splatters! Aloha!

I like making double stuffed potatos. I is the best of both worlds. You partially cook a whole potato after poking holes in it. Then cut it in half and scoop out the insides. Fix the insides like you would for mashed potatoes and then put back into the shell and bake a little longer until golden brown. You can add cheese if you want.

Cook it about 20 minutes. You want to bake it enough that you can scoop out the insides but not rip the skin. I usually test it by sticking a knife into it. I want it to go in but have to force it a little. This is compared to when I'm just baking a potato and I want th knife to go in easily.

This question is right up my alley! I love potatoes! I love every single style but my favorite is French Fries!
either way tho...no mattter baked, mashed fried, I always spice them up with butter, sour cream, bacon bits and LOTS OF CHEESE!!!! I have to have cheese on all of my taters no matter the style! I say go with mashed tho, and mix in some shredded cheese and bacon bits, AND, As a special note...if you want to make them creamier and give them a tad bit of a different taste, use mayo instead of butter!!! go by your taste and how much you actually make...Its a real winner in our house!!!
