Why can't i talk on my microphone with my dell computer w/vista but i can hear with headphones? I downloaded the sigma tell audio from dell drivers support. It says that its enabled but the microphone does not work. I can't record my voice.Any suggestions?

maybe the volume of your recording device is off, or maybe you are connecting your plug into another port.. check if changing to another port works.. or in the control panel the recording device is not selected by default to your dell audio..

Thanks for all your help. I didn't realize I could plug the microphone in front of the computer. I did that, and now its working fine. Once again; thank you for your time.

difficult situation that is, because I can't see you computer! Have you checked in the hardware devices list if you can see the hardware actually? And If you have a spare audio card somewhere, try inserting it and test it! it doens't matter if your audio card is integrated, an extra soundcard will work anyway..And there's maybe another thing in the sound properties you should check! Maybe in your sound properties you got the microphone on mute standing, or it's standing very low! Try these things out! and oh yes! don't forget trying to test an other microphone! because usually the problem lies with the microphone, and not the soundcard ! (while I'm thinking of it, I've got the same problem, but I use my microphone through USB!) Keep me updated! I'll help you as much as I can mate!

The hardware is there and says its working properly. I tried two mics and either one of them work. Maybe I'll buy one that plugs into my usb port; and see if that works.

Hmm..that's quite strange.. I guess there's a problem with your soundcard, because it's obviously not the fault of the microphone..Did you checked double the sound properties? If not, then do now..and if you still can't find out what's wrong, then you'd better just or buy a new soundcard (not so expensive!), or like what you said, an usb microphone.., anyway, good luck with it! Cheers!
