My g/f, daughter, and I live in a 2 bedroom basement apt. Of a private house in the bronx, NY. We pay $1100 rent with everything included.
Our monthly bills are:
1. Rent w/ light/gas/etc. Inclded
$1100
2. Cable/internet/phone
$140
3. Food
$160
Our monthly income (AFTER tax) combined is: $3480
I myself have $5000 saved up and my girl, I believe has about the same as well, have to double check tho.
We've been living there for 1 yr now, the landlord is fantastic its just that we need more closet space, the neighbors suck, are loud sometimes, and untidy when it comes to insects/bugs, there's a small roach problem (from the neighbors), the mail sometimes gets lost so we have it delivered to our parent's house, and we don't wanna have to walk around the back of the house thru a narrow dark passage to come in/go out.
Don't get me wrong, the apt is nice, looks nothing like a basement apt, looks a lot like a movie set.
I'm looking to start doing one of these pay to review sites like a 2nd job, I wanna make extra 200-300 a week but don't know which will pay this I.e. Review stream, ciao, etc. I'm also planning to step my mylot game up as well, hopefully post/reply enough to get at least $50 a day out of it.
What's everyone think?

My,almost all your money goes to renting. Why wont you buy one?here in the philippines,we have a scheme in housing called, rent to own..you pay a initial deposit, then pay rent(well its more of a monthly amortization). The longest term i guess is 30 years..
anyways,im still new here in mylot..to earn your target amount,i guess you'll be needing a lot of time infront of the computer thinking about sensible discussions to start and posting remarkable comments to other mylotters discussion..
just enjoy..its fun here in mylot..

JOIE,
I would love to buy one but I live in NYC the most expensive place to live, doesn't matter if ur in manhattan, bronx, queens, brooklyn.... the lowest minimum I've seen for buying a condo or an apartment around here is $100,000-$1 million, I can't find anything lower than that. NYC now favors the yuppie scumbags who work on wall st. They're the ones who can afford to buy condos/apts here. Us EMTs and nurse aides (me and my girl) are not on the yuppie level.
So that's a problem.

I think you should move to Miami. It's pretty similar to NYC not as congested, there are apartments here that are 2 bdroom that go for about 735 or less (that's how much I pay) my utilities are average 300, food 150 can last for the month and it's my husband, my 3 year old, my newborn, and myself. NO but really, I've heard that the cost of living in NYC in very high compared to other places and for you to move you have a nice amount saved up I would think and if u you want to do like I'm doing. I've just started making about 100 a week doing ciao, mturk (writing small things that pay), helium (submitting articles and being paid), of course mylot, and surveys. I don't know about the 200-300 a week but i'm sure you can make at least 100 until you can invest it into something else. Do you have a telent? something you think you can sell to others? Ty going on ebay and find out what's hot, get some connections invest your 100 into something and sell it on ebay. I'm about to start selling somethings on ebay as well so that should up my income quite a bit.

I know you live in NYC but its very expensive downthere. Why don't you just try to visit Connecticut. I think you would like to live over here you could easily find an apartment for less money for 2 bedrooms. There's apartments here for $625.00 a month and they have 2 bedrooms. I know it dosent compare nothing to NYC but you could easily make a good living over here but that's for you to explore the areas first because there's a few areas in Connecticut that are expensive but where I live is a pretty big city and its not that expensive.
