Do you let your kids drink soft drinks?

We all know that soft drinks has no good effect in our body, some says it can damage our bones, I believe so, but now advertisings make soft drinks as if it should be a part of your every day meal. I am too guilty of soft drinks indulgence. When we do our grocery shopping, I sometimes bought soft drinks for stocks. Ok so they say it can do no good to our body and can do damage the bones, believing so; I think that it would be very harmful to the kids, since their bones are still tender. That is only my belief and I am not saying that it is right, but when I see kids drinking it, I cannot deny the fact that I cringe. My kids, specially my first born, only tasted it twice and he never liked it. While my second born love it sometimes I really make it a point not to let him drink more, a sip or two once a week is bad enough for me.

How about you? What do you feel when you kids, like ages 2, 3 or 5 drinks soft drinks?
Or if you have kids do you let them drink some?

Well, I'm 12, and yes I know it's weird seeing a kid try to make money :). But, my mom doesn't really care, I mean she cares; but not like the soft bones thingy. She lets the doctor do the talking :). Except, she has really really mom moments, like sometimes she cares too much about my allergic retinitis. And, I'm sometimes like:"Okay, chill."

NOt only soft drinks are bad for the bones, they are bad for the health too because its sweet, and can cause diabetes if one were to drink too often.. Plus, soft drinks are addictive too, and it's best not to let the kids start drinking.. Once in a while is ok, but once they start to grow older, it's gonna be hard to control them..
SO if possible, stop stocking up soft drinks in the house, so that htey cant even steal a sip if u are not around ^_^

When my children were young I gave them very little soft drinks as the didn't need all the sugars and carmels it contains but as they got older I let them drink any soft drink they wanted and they drank it alot. My oldest recently stopped drinking soda, about 6 months now, and started drinking the crystal light stuff and lost 25 pounds - however my youngest seems to like soda too much to give it up at this time.

I have drank pop my whole life. I love the stuff and can't go without a pepsi at any given point in time. I do agree with you with youngn's being allowed to drink pop. I let my kids have it on Friday with their pizza but that is it. It's not good for the kidneys, let alone growing bones. I know, because I have bad kidneys. I never gave my kids pop when they were that little, and with one child whose genetics cause him to be obese! It's a no-no. What I cringe at is the mothers who don't take the time to feed the little ones and just feed them juice, or kool-aid, or pop in the cups or bottles. This not only is unhealthy as far as teaching them healthy ways to eat, but rots the teeth. my kids are 10, 9, 7 and 5. They know that even at the other parents house, they are not allowed to guzzle pop. Our kids actually drink more water than anything. We have a water cooler and they find it neat to get their own water from the machine rather than the spigot. Happy My lotting!

I let them have a soda here and there, and it's either sprite or rootbeer. I am a huge soda drinker, only because when I was growing up, I wasn't allowed to have any. I would sit and watch my dad have a pepsi with dinner, while we either had milk or water. We would have juice, every once in awhile. When my family lived on a Naval base, our house contained lead paint, not much we could do at the time except don't let our child put it in her mouth. We were also told that milk, helped in case if she did. So she drank a lot of milk and kept her hands clean. My youngest got a sip of soda when she wasn't even 2 yet, only because my husband let her have a sip from his watered down cup. We were at a theme park, and I ran out of her milk and juice cups and the park was closing. She also didn't have any chocolate until she was 2 months shy of being 2, thanks to my dad. He gave her a chocolate kiss. I think if a parent is going to let their kids have soda, it should be a small amount, shouldn't replace liquids that they need, and it should be given with a straw. That way the sugar from the soda won't sit on the teeth, but go straight down their little throats.
My kids mostly like milk, juice, homemade juice, and water.

I have two kids, ages almost 4 and 2 and a half. My oldest one loves to drink softdrinks, but because it's never in the house, he only gets it ones in a while, when we are out or something. AT home he drinks water and milk. The youngest one always wants to try it, but doesn't like it, he does drink ice tea sometimes, but his number one choice is chocolate milk. He doesn't get that every time he wants, but mostly two times a day (morning and evening). I feel that I should let them drink it ones in a while, that way they get used to it and learn that they can have it, but not to much of it.
Have a nice day

When I was little soft drinks where a treat. Same way when mine where little. Now that they are adults my son drinks soft drinks and lets his little one have too much. My daughter drinks very little and limits their child's soft drinks.
I wish the little ones did not drink soft drinks at all but I keep my opinion to myself as they are grown with their own families.I got off the soft drink wagon and drank only water but fell off the wagon and am drinking more sodas but plan to get back on water although this summer I got hooked on crystal lite peach tea. I am not to sure this is very good for me wither because of the artificial sweeteners.

Pehpot it is very true that softdrinks is not good to our health so i never really encourage my child to drink one. Only in a several occasion but not regularly . It is very addictive i would say once you taste the taste of it you would always want for more. So never really if possible

yes i let my kids drink softdrinks in moderation.. but i don't stock it at home. i myself drinks too especially at lunchtime since its so hot, especially in our weather.. we'll you should lessen it a bit it since it stops the absorption of nutrients in food while you're eating and drinking softdrinks..

I do let my kids drink soft drinks. My son loves them. I dont let him drink as much as he would like too but I do let him drink. People have been drinking soft drinks forever. I have been drinking soft drinks since I was a kid and I am perfectly healthy. There is nothing wrong with it in moderation.

I've heard that cola drinks are not good for bones, but I didn´t hear anything about all the other soft drinks. I don´t let my child to have Coke or Pepsi everynight, only when going out to have dinner or when we have someone visiting us at home. All other nights he drinks Sprite or any other softdrink with lemon flavour.

A soft drink is a treat for my children. I do not let my children have them at every meal or even once every day. I do want them to get used to a better way of eating than that. I tend to get too many sodas myself, so I have to remind myself to be contented with water, too.

My kids are grown now so they pretty much drink what ever they want. I havent bought the stuff or drank it for so long. One day i desided to buy one. Now i can not see what i ever liked about it. I always tell everyone how bad it is for them but most dont really care. My daughter drinks it but wont allow her kids to drink it too often. I wish she would stop too. If you and her would think of yourselves as an example to them that may help you to stop. How can you drink it but not allow the kids??? Just a thought.

We allow my grandaughter to drink soft drinks and because she knows that she can drink them if she wants, she wants to drink something else, tea, juice, water, she doesn't drink milk because she is allergic to it. We don't have any arguments about it and she doesn't drink many soft drinks.
