How do you pacify your Angry Wife

Think that due to your not coming or reaching in time to accompany your wife to the shopping mall or to attend a family function, your wife become angry and attending the function is also important. How do you pacify your wife. Do you think that she will be resolved with your preplanned explanation or it take time to pacify her and attend the function in a happy mood. Please feel comfortable to give your opinion on this. I will be thankful for leading this discussion further.

i will bring her flowers,apologize to her on my knees because it was my fault and tell her the reason why i couldn't make it on time and ask her to go on a dinner and hopefully she will melt down. i think it will work for me as i have facial expression also to help me and they will help me out as well... hopefully
