I seen both these dangerous snakes when I was growing up. We moved onto a farm when my dad retired from the army when i was in the 3rd grade. The previous owners had let it get pretty badly overgrown and we had to clear it out. There were lots of snakes. Dad and my brothers killed a lot of them.
I remember when I was playing with my friend by the tire swing, I was barefoot and I was not supposed to be, and I looked down and there was a baby timber rattler about 3 feet away from my foot. I told my friend to slowly back away and then run get my dad. I had my bb gun leaning against the tree but couldn't reach it without moving and I was scared to move.
My dad got there with his gun and shot the snake and then I got a lecture about shoes again. A baby timber rattler is just as poisonous as an adult.

We have Mohave rattlers out here -- the green kind, but fortunately they mostly stay away from populated areas. We see them if we go for a drive in the country, though, sometimes on the road. These are the "green" rattlers and they are quite aggressive. Most people carry snake shot when they are out in our boonies.
