i think its racist

My brother came home and told me today that that his Drama teacher had told them they would be havng a supply teacher and that he was and I quote "a negro" can you believe that!. My mum says i am overreacting but you cant say that!!! I said i dont care if hes venutian!you just call him a supply teacher,not a "negro" an indian a chinese man just a teacher. Does anyone else think its racist or am i just overreacting?

In what context was it said seems a bit strange that s/he would just add that on the end your getting a supply teacher and btw s/he is a negro. What does that have to do with anything? like you said you wouldn't say btw s/he is chinese! strange

Hi 3cardmonte. I think that it is a kind of racist. Which color the skin have doesn't have any importance. You are right the teacher must say a new teacher only. If she/he tell about the color it means that he/she care about it. The only thing that is important is if he/she is a good teacher.

I think it's totally racist! You are absolutely right - there is no need to call him a negro. he is a teacher. It doesn't matter what his colour is. In a world with so much multi-culturism and inter faithed marriages, it won't be a shocker to the students if a purple man walked in to supply the class. That's definitely not right to say and I think that teacher needs to be tought that you can't say thing like that.
