Is music banned in Islam???

i saw a movie,in that it was shown that music is banned in ISLAM, is it true???

lol,,no no,, i was just thinking that how can a religion ban music??? music is one of the faces of god according to me.

lol,,are you saying about prayers they sing,, they are lovely, but i would call that music too. Please tell,is music banned in islam??

Yes,anything putting fuel on lustful desires,should be banned.Music is also one of such means.Our Holy Prophet(pbuh)had put fingers in his ears when the voice of flute started coming during a journey.For purity of mind and soul,we should avoid listening to music and this is what Islam teaches.We should not feel shame in accepting a fact.

I don't think so. I know a friend who is a Muslim. And he even sent me some tapes to enjoy the Muslim music. I can't think out a reason to ban the music. It doesn't make a sense. I love China
