Tuesday 9/30/08 UPDATE: 2nd Stimulus Check Appears to be Dead
According to ABC new "Lost in all the coverage of the $700 Billion Bailout Package was news that Congress last last week shelved a bill that would have started the wheels turning on a 2nd Economic Stimulus Check this fall.
The biggest reason is that with Congress grappling with how to fund a $700 Billion financial rescue plan, no one had the time or stomach to find funding for another $50 Billion in Rebate Checks for Taxpayers.
It's conceivable the plan could be resurrected before the end of the year, but the Bush Administration has expressed no support for a 2nd Stimulus at any point, and Democratic support appears to be waning due to the incredible cost of the financial bailout.
Doesn't that Stink? Wall Street fails, so our hopes for another rebate check to help pay for gas and groceries goes out the window.

So not only did we loose a bundle in the stock market but now they are keeping our taxes. It will be amazing if we make it through the next 5 years with roofs over our heads.
What do you think???

What? Did you say a second stimulus check? LOL My husband didn't even get his first one because we were good honest people and filed our taxes jointly as a married couple, and because I am not an American citizen with and I have no Social Security Number, HE did not get his check!! That really annoyed the crap out of both of us.

Dear Annie, I have no idea how government money works. When the $$$ gets up into the billions it is way too far above my head to even begin to comprehend it. My checkbook has never had more than 4 figures in it at one time!~Donna

I didn't get a first stimulus check, because I didn't earn enough last year. I spent most of last year unemployed, so I was just short of having earned enough to qualify.

Hi villageanne
I didnt agree with the first check yes it helped me pay some bills but for what cost
the goverment kept stressing it would help the ecomny come on how many people did anything more than catch up on bills and fill gas tanks and what good did that do because a week after spending it all we were in the same boat
im ny opioion they could have kept it paid the debt we have to china and never mentioned it again

You want my opinion, all this is that its a joke. All these high priced companies think when things go bad they think that the government is here to bail them out. When things go bad for the average joe like myself,I don't see the government coming to my rescue and bailing me out I have to try to figure it out for myself. All I know is maybe these high paid excutives should try to see it from the average joes standpoint. Thanks. Oh one more thing To solve all the money problems that we r having. If u don't have the money don't spend it.

It seems so, it sounds like we will be lucky to have money for anything. It could really get bad.
