Back in 1990 I used to be a waitress and dining room manager of a local restaurant. While I worked there, I was talked into selling Avon under one of my friends. You know, I ended up doing very well. I received awards several times for top sales in the county. Well, that was many years ago....
The other day I was reviewing websites and came across an Avon rep's site. Now the county I live in was hard hit with the tumble of the housing market. I heard on the local news that Lee County was one of the hardest hit IN THE NATION! My first thought, no one has any money so I probably shouldn't do this. Then I thought, what about the internet? If local people who would buy Avon anyway, could go online and order could I sell? And what about the people who retired here, and can afford to buy products, plus it's almost Christmas. Aren't people more likely to purchase holiday products? What if I shared my profit, gave an extra discount, could I sell more? And, if I promote an Avon site on the web, could I sell that way?
I'm undecided, and would like your input!
Should I try it? Do you know about Avon products? Would you buy Avon online?

I know about them, don't buy them, don't particularly have a use for most of them, but think you would probably get a good response selling them on the internet because most people don't think like me. :-)

Avon product are just simply the best. My sister was once a customer but now an independent Avon representative and she's doing quite well. Why? she's just persuasive! I tell you, she makes a good sales woman. She's thinking about getting her personal website soon..which I think is great. So go ahead redkathy, do your thing! Technology gives you all this opportunity. I say make use of it.

i do know about avon products. have a neighbor up the street that sells avon. have u checked to see if it's already for sale on the internet. bet somebody does. it's alot of trouble to ship things. i use to sell on ebay & it could be a hassle. of course avon would be lighter to ship than alot of things i shipped. got where i couldn't get the boxes to the post office very easily. good luck in whatever u decide to do.

I think it's a great idea to sell some physical products on the net. You don't need a big storage and the shipping cost can be low if you sell products like Avon.
But, on the other hand, you'll need to consider what kind of products is easier to sell on line.--this I don't have experience.
I also want to sell things online, my idea is selling some Chinese products, not those wildly spreaded things, but something special.

Hi,
I honestly do think you would do very well selling Avon products online infact I wouldn't mind having a look at that rep site myself, if you don't mind posting me the link, I've often thought about Avon because it does well where I live and people have been buying avon for years and years so it's got a very good reputation, so I'd say go for it...

okay here's the deal I was very excited when I heard that Avon was giving me a free website to get my product out there but heres the catch if someone buys something from your representative page then that money stays in your account it never touches your hand. It is used towards ur next live (in person) order. I also thought that I would get that money in my hand but lets say that i have 100 dollars in online rep site orders I get 50% so thats 50$ in my account and I get a 50$ order from a friend and she gives me a check I just place the order and keep the 50$ check for my personal use becuase the 50% from the 100$ that is in my account will cover the cost of the new order. But I guess if you wanted to buy alot of the product and then start a website on your own then it might work pretty decent.

actually, I've heard that if you do make enough sales online and selling online is all your really doing, Avon can cut you a check. I'm not 100% sure on that, but I'm a new Rep. and I love it :)

my friend sells mary kay and i sell mia bella candles and the online part works best for me. i'm not huge on hitting up people door to door and i hate being pushy. i'm not allowed to sell on my own website, but i use the company's and it saves a huge HUGE amount of time. there are many of us who do online marketing and do just fine. i know with make up, no matter how tough times are women still want to look good!

Why not ?
If they buy them from regular why not the net ?
It could be a good way to earn some income.
Avon is a popular product.

I love Avon products. I used to sell it as well and like you have thought about doing it again. One of the reasons why I love there products is because they dont test on animals. Why not give it a try? it couldn't hurt, right? Maybe I will do the same as well and take my own adivice. After all now is the time....Christmas is approaching...Good luck with your choice!

i dont think AVON products will be sell online, for me AVON products can be only sell by females, and they are only females that can make website for AVON products.. and the companies focus is " AVON = the company for women " if they make their products sell online, their will be less oportunities for other women, because by doing this AVON will be automated... so they will stick to the old method...

Men sell Avon too, and they do great around here.
There is a single male parent that is an Avon rep. and he really took to it. Hes doing awesome.
Avon doesnt sell just womens things, they sell mens and childrens products as well as things for the house, which men are ALSO interested in. - so. it isnt just for women.

Most people now a days are internet savvy. So i cant see any reason why you dont try the internet in promoting avon products. I myself is an avon lady. We should be positive in order for our sales to increase and have a positive outcome also.

I cannot see why you could not be able to sell it over the internet.I like avon products and would definitely consider buying them online if the prices were decent.

I sold Avon for a number of years. I'm not a salesman AT ALL and I hated making deliveries.
The internet sites are fine, but unless things have changed, you only make a certain percentage, no matter how much you sell (unlike regular sales, where your percentage of earnings was higher with more sales).
Holiday sales are usually better than other times during the year, but if you discount people will expect it a lot. You can offer a 'new customer' discount to draw people in, and that would be great to start off with, since I believe you earn 50% the first campaign or two.
If you earned sales awards before, you know how it works. If you think you can, you can. If your heart isn't in it, or you stopped because the sales just weren't there in your area, you'd do well to think hard.
Regardless of what you decide to do, you're not going to be out any big investment, and you get samples and stuff for your small sign up fee anyway.

I'm not really a fan of Avon, but then I don't really wear much makeup and am very picky about fragrances and bath products. I do know a lot of middle aged people love Avon, and my colleague has bought some items from Avon to take on holiday.
I have noticed people selling Avon on Ebay, not too sure how successful it is, but you could have a look. I don't know lots abot Avon but know that some people really like it, I personally wouldn't buy from them.

I've tried selling Avon a couple of times, and it just didn't work out for me. I spent hours a day putting the books all around a neighborhood, and never got any calls. It just didn't work out.
But the one thing I did notice was Avon doesn't really make a quality product. Maybe I'm just picky because I know some people swear by it, but I can't stand half the Avon products I've tested over the years, so I've completely given up on it.
