Why do so many people like PTC sites?

I've heard a lot about PTC sites and that you can make a lot of money from just clicking away. However, for some reason, I've never wanted to join any.
A lot of people are crazy about these sites but honestly, I don't really see the point in joining them. I've seen so many discussions about PTC sites paying their members and then after a couple of months, the site becomes inactive. I've also read a lot of discussions about PTC sites being a scam. Regardless of the drawbacks, there are still a lot people who keep a love-hate relationship with these sites.
On my part, I've always found MyLot to be very fulfilling and if I were to choose, I would still stick to MyLot or any paid to write sites instead of spending my time on PTC sites.
What are your thoughts on this?

Personally, I do not see the interest in these type of sites as well. For me, they seem to be a waste of time. I know I have been lucky enough to Cash out from these type of sites in the past, but they take a lot of time for such a little amount of income a day that I have since moved on to sites like this, and Writing sites where I know I can be guaranteed a certain amount of a payout in a lot shorter amount of time as well.

The reason for that is because all the pennies add up to dollars and they get money for doing something that requires little effort.
