Everyone has their own way of doing things here on MyLot…there is no right or wrong. We just all do things how we want to, from starting discussions to adding a siggy. Some ppl start a discussion and wait patiently like a cat watching a mouse hole, some leave it and come back later and some check every few moments and get irritated when the responses don’t come in fast enough. When I start a discussion, sometimes I’ll keep checking back for responses if I’m working on other things. Sometimes I’ll leave it for a few hours and go do some housework, play my game or go to my Mom’s. I love to see all the different comments and sometimes I even get a completely different view of a topic. When you start a discussion, do you sit and wait patiently for responses? Do you leave it and come back later? Do you watch it like a hawk and get irritated if the responses don’t come in fast enough? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Hi twoey, This is a nice topic..LOL! When I will start a topic, I will check it on the following day, I will get myself busy with my notifications and hit my goal which is 45 responses each day that if I don't have any appointment or stuff to do around the house! On the next day, that is my first task,to check my post and see if I have some responses and then start to comment and will feel a little disappointment if ever there are no responses, but that is rare since I have several friends who are my supporters also and vice versa.. But, there are also days when I am done with all my notifications and I still have time online, so, if that happens, I will go check my post!

That's great that you have a set goal. I try to get through at least 30 discussions and start 3 of my own. I rarely have discussions that don't have any responses and I've had one or two that just took off...one I did on adults watching Disney movies had over a hundred pages of responses. Hi twoey68, When I do a discussion which isen't very often, I just carry on responding and when the response to my disscussion comes in , well it a bonus but I don't wait around for it as if there is only two or three response comes in, I won't be disappointed. Tamara

I hardly ever start a new discussion anymore because I am so backed up with my friends discussions. I am working hard on those. the only discussions I have made, that I go back and check often, is the ones with a question that I need to have answered.

LOL I know what you mean...I have so many discussions to answer I'd probably bankrupt MyLot if I responded to all of them. I still like starting new ones though...I kind of like to see how ppl tick. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

When people speak of one another as myLot friends this is confusing because there are far too many potential myLot buddies to befriend in any real sense of the word, yet some do have personalities which emerge to the point where end up interacting more with them than with some others. Some start many discussions which for those of us who have notify on, more or less forces us to take a closer look at them than some others. Those friends I do expect to reciprocate in some way when I participate in their discussions and I would hope that those of them who do not want to ever reply to the relatively few discussions I start would save me the trouble of having to go delete them from my friend list. I would hope they would just delete me first. So, no, I do not have time to sit and pounce, and I give everybody a very wide berth, but if after a year or so I see that people are users, I sigh a deep sigh and think about removing them. There was a chap who recently was on my friend list and although he did not visit my discussions he gave me BRs so I thought of that as sort of friendly, and kept him around, so to speak. But then he started a discussion that was in my world view so blatantly inappropriate that I did immediately delete him from my friends. When, time allowing, I start a discussion, it isn't meant as a test to see if people are paying attention, lol, but rather as a fun way to make new and maybe better friends.

I've done all three. Not too much the last one. I have learned that if I start a discussion, answer a bunch, and then look back, it works better. I don't get upset as much as concerned when an hour or two goes by without a response. I really love the answers that have a different point of view as long as it isn't a terrorist view or something way out there. I love when people help me remember something I forgot like the self-winding watches, forgot all about them. Leaving and coming back later probably works best, but a lot of people like immediate responses after you put a discussion up. Take care.

That's mostly what I end up doing. This morning I started my 3 discussions, went and answered a few and watched a couple of funny videos and then came back to do replies. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

If I'm still on I will keep checking between resposes and checking friends discussions and things, otherwise I just come back when I can and check... When I first joined I used to sit and watch like a hawk lol checking for a response every minute... Not anymore though.... I like coming back the next day or when I can and checking... I do get a little sad if no-one at all responds....

I don't start many discussions and I tend to go away and read the responses the next day. I used to watch them more closely at the beginning but that seems to have changed over time. What's neat is when someone bumps up an old discussion like this one which I just noticed is 3 months old.

if it's something dear to my heart I will check at least every hour I do work on the computer so I can just keep mylot open and play music on my profiles while doing it if it's light hearted discussion I usually just leave it for days meanwhile when I finish my work on the computer I will keep responding or starting new topic that's how I do it here and I never expect fast response or comments from others either

I usually start a discussions then I answer some discussions and them come back to mine to see who has answered. After a while i will leave mylot and go do other things then check my email to see if i got any more replies. I guess whatever works best for you. Huh??

I think I often leave it for a while.I don't think I am patient enough to stay there to wait for answers. So I always do some others things first. For example, play computer games, surf the Internet or listen to music. Then I come back a little later to see the answers.

When I start a discussion, I will sometimes leave it be for a while, but sometimes check it. Sometimes I'm starting a LOT of discussions then I just check them when I'm done. When it's just one I'll go check on my friends then come back after a while.

For awhile, I baby sat my discussions. Then when I found out that my friends all had different schedules than me, I had to let it go. Now, I check in minutes after posting and then four hours later. Usually, I wrap up my discussions around midnight. Good question!

When I start a discussion I leave it right after I post it. Then I continue on responding to other discussions, from my email, so I know when someone responds to my discussions because they come in my email address. I then will go to the response and read it and comment if I have something more to say, and then go back to responding to other discussions. I do this all day, while in mylot, and so when I get responses I know right away that someone responded. I wait till the next day before I give out the best response by going to my unresolved link, if no one else has responded anymore. I know that too, because if someone else responded it would be in my email.

Hello twoey. I think i am like you in the way that i also may either stay and check it after mylot-ing for a while, or just let it be and check it a few hours later depending on the time and mood. I get very happy to see various responses to my topics especially if they come from my mylot friends.
