We all rember the pet food recall due to melamine contamination. Now there is salmonella in the pet food. This is a FDA recall of BOTH dog and cat food in the US.
Even though this recall started a few days ago, people are still finding these foods in some stores. Also, you may have already purchased them and they may be in your home now.
Here are two links about this problem - http://www.petcare.mars.com/ and http://www.lasvegasnow.com/global/Story.asp?s=9021897
The first is from the voluntary recall by the company responsible and the second is a news release about the FDA recall of these foods.
Please check these out to make sure your dog or cat is not being fed contaminated food.

My cat food is FDA certified. I don't have to worry much i guess. What i'm really afraid of is when FDA certified food is being contaminated. Certified food are usually invinsible to food researcher.

All that FDA certified means is that it is manufactured in accordance with FDA guidelines. The FDA does not keep a person in each plant that is certified and they do not test each batch of pet food that is produced. So, you should still check the listing to make sure you brand of cat food is not listed.

Thanks for that information. My dog has been eating Purina Beneful. Thankfully, it's not on the list.

You are very welcome.
Even though the "voluntary" recall started in early Sept and the FDA recall was in mid September - this recall was not getting the amount of publicity that the previous recall did.
When I finally heard about it and found out that this stuff was still on the shelves and had not been pulled in all locations, I figured I better start passing the word.
