It is often felt that adults have more problems than teenagers do, and hence are more at risk for becoming depressed. But from news reports around the world, it appears that not only are more teens becoming depressed, but more of them are ending their lives while going through their bouts of depression. Any views on this matter?

As you said,it is often felt but not really the truth.Nowdays adults like to use their children to ease their agony. They tends to put some of their problem into them.Despite having enough stress from studying, they also recieved another kind of problem from their parent. This leading to more depression.Adults also think that they are right all the times due to their experience of their lives. That why no matter the child done what, they are thought to be wrong all the times.Do you know how its feels?

Yes I do. It is a very difficult thing to handle. As soon as you start growing up, and need to have a more grownup relationship with your parents, it seems as if your world starts falling apart. Communication between you and your parents begins to break down, and life becomes very stressful. But thankfully, there are ways to cope.

I agree. It is a challenge. Tell me though, do you feel powerless, you know, as if you are unable to do anything to make a positive change in the relationship with your parents?
And if I were to say to you- A calm sea never makes a good mariner, What would you take that to mean?

I think teens and adults are prone to depression for the same reasons. It would seem that adults, for the most part, are supposed to have their lives straigtened out and have it going on. Teens, on the other hand, are enduring peer pressure and so much more in their world. So, depression who be the fall out of that. In other words, I think it goes by how much stress and strain you are under at whatever age.

These are all very meaningful comments. Would it help then if the depressed teen or adult try to talk out the feelings with a trusted friend, and try to see the problem they are facing from a different point of view? Could negative emotions be at the root of most cases of depression?

I believe that they are more prone to depression because of the hormones surging inside them. It's also basically because of the phase, when I was a teenager I was filled with angst, and when I look back I was wondering where those angst were coming from.

Most teenagers is prone to depression since they cant handle there feelings like a matured person do. They are vulnerable and impulsive. They do things base on there emotions and they dont use there minds to balance things when they make decisions specially if it has something to do with love. Some teenagers also have some insecurities in life that could lead them not to be sociable and became a loner. This is the stage where they needed to be guided well by there parents or it will lead to a more serious problem.

It certainly seems a waste of time to a person who perhaps, have never had a bout of depression. The general view is that it is all in the mind of the person who is depressed, and so they are able to just snap out of it. But have you ever taken a look at some of the causes and symptoms of depression? It is the number one reason why many cannot enjoy life, have fun, or do not even want to live.
