Losing a friend in mylot...

Friends come and go to our lives. I have a cyber friend who became real when i met her and she opted to leave this site after banging with some users. I've put her as my "knight in shining armor" as she always come to my rescue when someone is bullying me here. Rarely do we find friends who will do all they can to fight for a friend even if their reputation is at stake. I feel sad when she told me that she's leaving.. i am convincing her not to let those bullies chase her away but i think her decision is final.
This is supposed to be a friendly site (that's why it is called social networking) where we learn from other people in different countries, cultures, beliefs, relationships etc. but there was a time that this also became an arena for "bull fighting". I hope we can be more polite in every word we wrote since each one of us cannot hear the tone of our voice that we are joking.. because to some, they find some words sarcastic--so the word war started.

There was a big flame war between people in the Philippines & other people. It's been almost 5 years, & hopefully, I remember correctly. Someone started a discussion just as a joke, & it got taken seriously. I believe it took a couple of days before the MyLot staff started the clean-up process. In the meantime, one of the prominent members in the Philippines had already quit the site. That's what started this discussion.

An unfortunate fact with the internet is that many people use it as a safe medium for being nasty to others, and many other people let it bother them too much. No one should have to put up with cruel people, but after fighting back letting it go is a necessary skill.
I'm sorry your friend left. =/

it's because some cowards can do anything hiding themselves behind their computers. we can also retract using this medium but with a guilt feeling if we're not used to it. maybe she needs time to heal her wounds.
