There should be a food bank nearby, which is where you need to start. Check with homeless shelters, women's shelters, etc., if you have trouble finding one - they'll know where there is one.
After that, check with the Salvation Army and then other churches. The Seventh Day Adventist church is usually good with things like that. You don't have to belong to the church or even go there (or to any church) to get help.
Only after that, if you're in the US, go to Social Services and see what kind of help you can get there. I put the government last because they usually take longer and if you need food right away, a few weeks can be a very long time.

If you live in the USA go to the Department of Human Services and they can help you. If they cannot issue emergwncy help, they can direct you to someplace that can. Usually if you cakk they can tell you where emergency help is. There is no reason to go hungry in this country. There ar emany people willing to help out. good Luck!

It would help to know what state your in. In Michigan you can go to FIA (Family Independance Agency or DHS . Your local heath department could tell you where to go.

Hello. In Oklahoma we have the Department of Human Services which provides food stamps to income eligble families. You can also go to churches and most have food pantries that help with food. Hope this helps.
