Do you keep records of your online earnings?

I have decided that from now, I will be taking paid writing and other extra money I may/may not make online more seriously. So I started a blog to somehow document what I'm doing and any possible income I might get from it. I'm also keeping track of what I"m doing in a notebook I have for my online writing... And now I have a question. How many of you keep track of what you earn online? And how do you do it? Writing it down in a notebook? some sort of computer file? you head only? And if you don't keep track of it... Why not?

i don't really keep track of it, because it all goes into my paypal account and then into my bank account, so i can see the paper trail. A couple of years ago, when I made a lot more in online writing, I kept track of it just to make sure I got paid. But right now, I don't really make enough for it to be necessary to keep track of it. If one day I magically found more time and thus started doing more writing, I would, because last time I had a person not pay me and that was very frustrating.

I did not keep track at all of my earning from online. Only check the balance at the end of the month, so I get the total earning balance. That's it. Don't really have time and chance to keep it in file.

If it works for you then there is no need to change it :) Don't fix what ain't broken, right? Me I like seeing the difference on a regular basis. Buty then again, keeping a file is fun for me :) Thank you for your response :)

I have not kept track as of yet, but now that you have mentioned this I think its a great idea. Definitely a way to motivate oneself more. I think I may just use a notebook. Organized by site and date. Tallied at the end of the month as most sites do it this way. Thank you for the idea!

Thank you, I'm glad you think this is a good idea . I actually think statistics like that can help set up goals for the futures because you can actually see if there's a chance of meeting those goals . Plus I like making tables and spreadsheets :P But that's just me LOL

I like having everything in one place, hence the file. I know I can always check with each site, but when I start working more on one site and I forget about the others what happened to me last month actually). One file helps me notice that I'm slacking in one area :) Thank you for your response :)

I started seriously making money online in July of this past summer. I have printed most of my paypal proofs and put them in a folder, and I started a blog in August to talk about my experiences, so if anyone happens to come across it, they can see my experiences and try it out themselves. I started writing about the sites I was on, and then when I started getting payments I made sure to post proofs. It is definitely cool to look at the proofs. I definitely was going stronger at the beginning, at least here on mylot, but overall I am happy with my paypal balance at this point. I have spent money here and there, but right now I am trying to restrain myself, because I want to see how much I can build up. Especially with Christmas coming, and money is tight, I might be using my money for my mom and dad's presents and then treat myself. Not sure yet. I do want to find some more reliable and consistent places to make money, because a large portion has come from GPT sites, and I tend to go through periods where I get a lot of approvals, then sometimes none approving. So if would be nice to have a consistent monthly earning, but I can't complain. I don't work, and I live at home with my mom--so I don't have financial responsibilities, apart from having spending money for things I want. Sorry, this was a bit more than you were asking, but pretty much ties in to my story of keeping records of what I earn online.

Hi, As well as having a blog where I document my online earnings, I also have a spreadsheet where I keep a more comprehensive account of it. take care,

Yes I think it is important to record all your earnings. It's exciting to see them adding up too! I post on my blog when I'm paid, but I don't always say how much I was paid. I make a note in my diary every time I get a payment into my PayPal account, and I keep a written record of every withdrawal made from PayPal to my bank account. Then I can see how much I really make each month. At the end of the tax year I will be able to declare all my online earnings. I don't earn enough to pay tax yet, but I hope I will soon be earning a taxable amount, as that will mean I'm making a real income from my activities on the internet.

Thank you for marking my response. I am serious about trying to earn a living, but I don't think I'm so well organized as those with their spreadsheets!

it no need to make note on blog or other place for me. first, my earnings is a little. everyday i get only 0.2$ or 0.3$, i can check from the item"earnings". there is the whole list. second, i check from time to time how many $ i have gotten. i won't forget, so i don't have to make note.

I was actually thinking more along thelines of payouts and actual earning in your paypal account, but I see how that might've been misunderstood... :) Anyway, Thanks for your response ;)

I never put my money making online on record. I never keep track on them. I just write down the sites and the passwords but not my earnings..I do trust my lot and in my blogs also so no worries on that.

I must admit I do keep a record of how much i've earn't through online earning sites. I tend to record my information in the form of a chart. Down the main colume on the left I list all the sites I currently use then across the top row I list each month in succession. To complete this table I then enter the amount I have made for that month in the corresponding box for that particular site. It would be easie to show you but it's a little more difficult on here. Hope you understand what i'm trying to get at anyway. Have been keeping records since I began trying to earn extra income online kind of use it as a challenge to see how much I can make in a month and use it as a template for the following month to either match or beat it.

I understand you perfectly :) In fact my psreadsheet is the other way around. the first row lists sites and the first colume list dates This first month will be testing ground. First months keeping the records. I hope to get extra motivation for November :)

I normally keep a book of earnings but your idea of a spreadsheet would take the calculation of totals and make it a great deal easier...tempted to set one up myself. Thanks

I just joined last month on some online income sites and I list it on a spreadsheet on my computer since I was just getting started and haven't reached any minimum payout yet.

I use paypal as a means of revenue too. So sometimes I check paypal total whether the total amount has been increased or not.
