I once locked myself out of my aunt's house while house sitting. My son and I were keeping the dog company and my son fell asleep with me on the living room floor. I woke up after sleeping for about an hour to let the dog out. I had to hurry because I didn't want my son to wake up while I was gone. The dog and I went downstairs to go out the back door. I opened the door and stepped outside to fill the water bowl. I turned around to open the door to find that it had locked behind me. I ran around to the front door to check that, but, of course, I had locked it so that no one could walk in while we were sleeping. While I was trying to figure out a way to get the front door open, my cell phone started to ring. My cell phone was laying on the floor inside the locked house next to my sleeping son. Sure enough, if I could hear the phone outside, my son could definitely hear it. THANK GOODNESS HE COULDN'T CRAWL YET. He woke up and started screaming! That's when I really started to panic. I was worried that he would somehow manage to roll his way through the house and down a flight of wooden stairs. SO, I ran to the back of the house to find a ladder. The only one that I could find was 12 feet tall and rotting. But, alas, all of the windows were locked. Then I noticed that the garage in the back had a numerical pad for number codes. I started looking for my cell phone when I remembered that it was inside. I ran back to the front of the house to see if I could see my son through the front window - the blinds were shut. I could hear him though! He was screaming like only little babies can. Finally, ashamed and panicked, I ran to the neighbor's house to use her phone. She didn't have my aunt or uncle's phone number. I didn't either. I called my Grandma - not home. My dad - he didn't know the code. My cousin, Ben, not home. My dad didn't know my aunt's cell phone number. Grandma still wasn't home. I was stuck. By this time every neighbor on the street was outside. They were probably drawn by the cries of an infant locked inside a house. I was hoping that someone had a spare key. I quickly determined that this was not the case. So, I broke the window and climbed inside the house. By the time I got upstairs, my son had fallen back asleep. And I had to replace the window. Then Grandma called.

OMG, yes. I did this just over the past summer.
The front of the house was locked and all of the kids were outside with me. But then when someone wanted to go inside, we realized the handle was still locked when someone closed the door! Oops!
Now, how we got in makes me a bit worried.
My older children and I went to the garage door to see if we could lift it. The door leading thru the laundry room to the den is never locked. It took a lot of strength for me and three kids to lift the garage door, but we did it!
I was happy that my partner did not have to leave work to come all the way home to let us in. But then I realized that garage door must not be too great to keep people out. Furthermore, nobody outside that passed by asked any questions! Great! Thanks neighbors! LOL

Yes! My husband and I had just moved into our house and we were going out somewhere. I walked out the door and he walked out after me and closed the door. It was then we realized that no one had a key. I had an excuse, pregnancy! My husband used a credit card and got the front door open. Needless to say, we got a storm door and better locks for our front door!

Oh my goodness. One Saturday my husband and I were working out in the garage. Our daughter was just a baby at the time and she was sick. She was asleep with a fever in the house and we locked ourselves out. Luckily my neighbor was home and we had to call my Mom (who had the only spare key). She lived an hour away. The baby never woke up and we were rescued. What a relief. I was terrified that the baby would wake up screaming and I wouldn't be able to get to her.

I totally understand! That happened to me too once! Although, I am really lucky. I live on base and just went next door and borrowed the phone to call maintence to open the door for me. It was kinda funny afterwards since neither of my daughters really cared/noticed. The youngest was sleeping in her crib in her room and the other was sitting on the couch watching The Santa Clause 2.

I have locked myself out and it made me late for work. My wife had to come home from work to let me in.
