OOPS! I meant to post this on this board but I was just wondering what everyone thinks of Shakespeare plays and which is your favourite. Mine is Hamlet because I really liked his character and related to the character's struggles with himself. I am also a fan of Julius Caesar, Taming of the Shrew, Richard III, A Midsummer Night's Dream and King Lear. They also turned out to be some pretty good movies except for Romeo and Juliet. I was never a big fan of this tragedy but to each his own. List your favs!

I've enjoyed "As You Like It" and "Othello" I've also seen some fantastic versions of "A Mid Summer Night's Dream." As a child however I think that my favorite would be "cymboline" (sp?) I think its a great story. Its like snow white, romeo and juliet, and several other stories all mixed up into one.

Cymbeline. Yes! I completely forgot about Othello and As You Like It. I remember some controversy over whether he really wrote all of this great stuff. Makes you wonder if all this genius could really come from one person but then you think about da Vinci and I guess it seems more possible. I wonder what will be considered the "classics" of our time in 500 years...

I like the Taming of the Shrewd. I watched it on television and it helped me to understand more Shakespeare's work.

Shakespeare works, actually, not quite like to read his plays or watched the movies that was based on his works, but there are few things that I really like. Like twelfth night, - my most favorite among his works; Much ado about Nothing, and Midsummer Night's dream.

I have only read two of his plays...Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet...and out of those two i would have to say Hamlet. There is just something about that play that i really liked.

It's been quite some time since I last read Shakespeare. But I remembered his works very well; the one that remained clearly in my mind was Merchant of Venice, best known for the character of Shylock. Other works that I enjoy reading were mainly his comedies like Much Ado About Nothing, The Taming of the Shrew and As You Like It.

My favorite is Othello, and I love to work with my students on it. It's a great way to teach about what jumping to conclusions, holding prejudices and failure to communicacte effectively can do to destroy lives. It also shows that, if a friend becomes envious, that's not going to be a friend anymore! There are so many solid lessons i it for teenagers, and the whole thing's fascinating anyway! There really aren't any Shakespeare plays or sonnets I don't love!

A Midsummer Night's Dream is good and so is Hamlet, but my favorite is definitely Macbeth. I have a copy of it to read once in awhile, too. It just never gets old! I fell in love with the play in high school when we read it for English class and I still read it over and over again!
