Its always been a heated debate against students and teachers on whether homeowrk is benificial or not. Personally i think its unfair for students to be lumped with excess homework..think about it, when you begin you career int he workforce... you do you 9-5 and go home...your done.. unless there is something little extra you need to complete that you didnt get done in your day. Your boss doesnt say, ok here is some extra work i need you to do at home for me....no it just doesnt work like that... students need their wind down time just as much as full time workers...but any way what do you think.....?

Actually there is extremely strong evidence against homework. It's found that homework really doesn't do anything beneficial for students. It does not help students get the material, it does not help keep kids out of trouble. It just creates more stress and strife for students and the parents that need to help with the homework.
In fact, when asked, teachers don't have a good reason for giving homework. All they say is, we're supposed to or my favorite, I was taught in college to give homework, so I give homework.
No one knows it's use.
And for the record, I am a student teacher. We discuss topics like this all the time. And the issue of homework has been one that has been extensively discussed and there is no basis for it.

I should have looked for a good link before I made my post, but here is a link that gives some good insight on how useless homework really is.

I think homework is perfectly aceeptable. First of all there are alot of jobs that ask of your personal time. Students need time to wind down but its not like homework takes 8 hours of your day. There is plently of times for kids to have a good time without ignoring their studies.

well this homeworks are something that kids should be busy with rather than seeing them play bloody video games... and it will remind them on what had hapend at school. so that they will not forget the discussion that day. well there should be a line between this too, from to much to perfect. we don't want to se our kids say up all night aswering the homework right. they need a rest too, speacialy they are still growing.
