When it rains, it pours...

I just got a message from one of the agencies I applied to yesterday and had an interview at today. They offered me the position! I haven't gotten back to them just yet but I'm more likely to take it. The reason why I'm still hesitating to call them back is in a few minutes, I'll be leaving to observe another agency for two hours and see if it's a good fit for me. I am still going to go but just a few minutes ago, I was tempted to call them and just cancel the observation since I might take the other job. No use in wasting each other's time. But I already committed so I'm going. Plus, I think it would have looked bad if I just gave them a 30 minute notice. What would you do if you were me?
Blessings/opportunities do come in multiples. When it rains... it pours!!! I just had to make it happen!

Wow! That is wonderful news! Is it the place where you work with emotionally disturbed teenagers?? What are the two positions you are deciding between... or am I too late and you already have a new job?!

Well, good luck and all that jazz... I hope you are very happy with whatever turns out. Does this mean you are going to be spending less time on MyLot?

It might make me spend less time on myLot but I don't think it'll stop me from checking in every day.

I have decided to work with male adults with autism. It pays lower than the SED adolescent program but the schedule is much more flexible. The latter still has to get back to me if they're okay with me working part-time. I still have to call the program coordinator on Monday and go from there. Thanks zig!

Hi SaintAnne, I miss you my friend. I'm glad to find that you are having so much opportunities knocking at your day when I came back here in mylot. It's really true, when it rains, it pours. I'm happy for you, you sure are blessed nowadays. But well, you have a situation too, you have to choose, you have to decide. It won't be easy and I really can't give you a concrete advice but you have to think this over and you have to think really good because your career is in the line here. Do not cancel anything though, it won't do you good. Just go on with all your commitments and observe as you've first decided to do. Take your time, I hope they're not in a hurry though. You are really blessed my fried, I'm so happy for you. More blessings!!!

Hello maple_kisses. You're back! And I'm glad!
I've already made up my mind. I'm going to call them again on Monday to start things. Either of the agencies would really help me gain more experience in my quest to become a social worker. And I'm happy that either choice allows me in some way to help others.
Thanks for the kind words and again, welcome back, welcome back, welcome back!

Congratulations friend! I guess luck is on your side so might was well grab it. At least you don't have to look for the job but the job has found you. Besides, I think its discourteous if you have to make the company offering you the job to wait. And also you have applied for it so you'll know for yourself that you'll like the position being offered to you.
If I were you. I'll take the job with no hesitations at all. If you're still confused then praying can help. Ask for signs if its the right job for you.
Hope that helps. Ciao!

That's a great idea you have with the 2nd company working as part-time. Hope they'll accept you too. I also agree that you have to tell your family especially your boyfriend. He's a part of your life now and he has to know important decisions you have to make, like this one.
Good luck!

I'll make the call tomorrow. But I've asked for advice from my mom. And I still need to talk it over with Boyfriend. It's not his call but since I'll be spending the rest of my life with him, I think just hearing what he has to say is needed. He doesn't get here until after midnight. But I've sort of made a plan in my head on my own. I'll take the first job offer then maybe talk to the other agency coordinator if I can do part-time. Just have to work on the schedule.
Thanks, iskayz. I do need to let them know as soon as possible. I just needed about a day or a night to think it over.

As the saying goes, you can't serve two masters at the same time. So you have to choose which one serves you best. Opportunities come and go, lucky for you your outside when the rain pours down on you, but we just have to make the best choices.

That's wonderful, I think you should go to the other agency and see if you like it better. You don't owe the first company any loyalty until you confirm that you will take the job. Keep your possibilities open because ultimately its your life and happiness that hangs in the balance.
Good luck on choosing your new job. Thanks for sharing this happy news, and happy happy mylotting.

Thanks glords. I've actually started on my training. So far, it's all reading the basic policies and procedures but I'm looking forward to the work itself. How's your taking-back-your-star going? I hope it's on the up and up but I think I remember you were a nine yesterday or did I just imagine that?

I was a nine. The taking my star back didn't work so well. I guess it rubbed people the wrong way, oh well at least I made a stand against something I think is unfair. I fought the law, but the law one. You know the saying "All that is needed for evil to triumph is for Good Men to do nothing."
I hope I will never sit by and tolerate injustice. Making a stand for something so trivial as a star is just good practice in case I ever do need to stand up for something important. I want to always stand up for what I believe in. Does that make sense?

There had been a time when I was looking for a job and wasn't getting quite. Then within a week I got 3 offers, all my preferred kinds and guess what I had real difficulty in choosing. Finally I went for the health care thing even though it was the least paying job among the 3. I had always wanted to be in that. I am still there.
Sisi, congratulations dear and you decide on the right option and I am sure you will go great.

Thank you, mimpi. How long have you been in your job now? Both of my choices are for nonprofit organizations. And I've always wanted that. I know the pay is lower than most but I still would get a lot of experience in a good environment. And this would help me move towards a career in Social Work. I am excited!
Thank you again.

well you have to go see the other agency today anyway, you can always call them after come back. but if this agency gave you a time frame to call, you can call after you come back but come up with an excuse just in case this job is better than the one that you are observing.
it's true when it rains it pours, good or bad this happens to me.
I hope you will find one of the two jobs to your liking

Thanks LittleMel. I am going to make my decision on Monday. I've already informed both agencies. I wish when it rains good stuff, it pours... but if it's bad stuff, maybe just a little drizzle. Thanks again!

well in your case its not so bad really..you just have to choose on which the choosing part is the critical...i believe its better you had encountered both blessings rather than having no choice at all...its not a bad one really its a blessing that you just have to choose which blessing you wanna receive...if i were in that situation i'll grab what's there already..i'll take the offer than the one that i wouldn't know the outcome..no guarantee if you will get it or not...

Hello angel_of_charm. I don't think my case is bad. I think a lot of people would want to have to choose between options rather that not have one. I already called the program coordinator earlier today and we're going to talk some more on Monday.
Thanks for all your suggestions. You take care!

I would go an do the other interview/observation. You never know, a much better offer/fit may come out of it. Plus you gather more interviewing practice. Yes, it probably would have alienated them, if you wouldn't have shown up. And the way things are nowadays... well, you may have to go back to them to apply for a job.
I realize this is after the fact but I am curious about your decision and how everything went. So keep us updated;)

Hello jonesy. I did go to the other observation and I am going to give them a call too, today. To see if I could work part-time over there or at least do some relief jobs but I doubt it since they also want one's schedule to be consistent.
Thank you for the advice. I did go because I try to make it to all my commitments and like you said, it was also a good interview practice. Thanks!

Yes, kaguvkov, I will accept one of them today. The head of the program said I could give her a call today. Thank you for your advice. Take care!

Firstly Congrats. I would check out both the opportunities , get myself to be sure about what i'm getting into and then proceed. I do agree, blessings do come in multiples and when you least expect them. The element of surprise is what makes it special i suppose.
All the very best to you and have a great day.

Thank you alokn99. I think your advice is very sound. I'm really glad I checked out the other place too and did not cancel it. I just have to make two phone calls tomorrow and take it from there. Thanks again, you have a great day too!

I thought of this too. It's mainly one of the reasons why I went and I'm glad I did because I also got a feel of what I'm going to be doing if I take that job. Thanks drannhh.

haha, when it rain, it really pours i guess. i have apply for work from agencies as well. mostly i will apply to a few agency so that i will have better chance of getting a job. but sometimes, i dun get a call from them at all and suddenly all of them comes in on the same day offering jobs. so is kinda hard to choose which one you will want to work because if you reject the other agency, most likely it will be harder to get another job from that agency again.

Hello planeswalker, welcome to myLot.
I just got back from the other agency and I want to work there too. The two I'm torn between help two different kinds of people and I would like to do both.
Thanks for sharing. I do hope that the agency I end up not taking does not reject my application if there's a next time.

Congrats on both! Since you liked the observation it's going to make it difficult to choose. At least it's nice that you get a choice.

I liked that.."When it rains, it pours.." Isn't God amazing? If we ask for an apple, He gives a bag of apples and oranges too (and even strawberries). Hehe. If I were you I would still go to the other appointment. ;D
I read that you went for it and now you have two good choices. If I were in your shoes, I'd follow my instincts since you can't have both. But if you can have both then that would be perfect.
Good luck!

Thank you, divinegwapa. I went through a phase there where I felt I can't do and get anything right. After pulling myself together, I realized that we have opportunities and blessings "hovering" around us, and it is up to us to do something about it.
Thanks again for your positive thoughts!
