English is my second language, and I am learning Arabic right now. Would love to learn other language to once I master my Arabic, I hope. If you're really interested in French, do go for the advance course. It would do you good and broaden your world-view.

i think it is very important, especially when it come to work purposes. I have learn Arabic for a few years, still unable to speak because lack of practices and interested to learn Korean and Japanese language, so i don't have to rely on subtitle whenever I watched their shows. English is a language I learn for study and work purposes, and my parents speak a language I don't really understand. I guess, learn foreign language indeed very important to me.

Hi damsel, I believe knowing one or more foreign languages could enable us to get more about the lifestyles, culture and many other things of the country straight away by reading, chatting or visiting the country. Besides we would have more opportunities to get better job in another country if we wish. Other than my own language I know Malay and English. I think I would like to learn either Spanish or French if I have more spare time. Since you have completed your French basic course I believe it’s better for you to take the advanced course of French so as to enhance the usage of the language. You then could use it more fluently and effectively. posting and have a nice day.

I think if you like it, you should learn more about those other languages. I am living in a Dutch speaking country but I can't speak that language. Of course now I need to learn the laguange in order to have social contact with people here.

Bonjour damsel, you're very brave to learn another language. Of course go on with the advance course. I have enrolled in Basic French a long time ago and I'm forgetting it now except for some words. If given the chance I would do it again. English I learned in school and at home since I was small. I'm from the Philippines.

I would say it is semi-important. It really depends on your situation, obviously, if you wish to get a job as a translator, learning a foreign language would be a top priority. But for most other jobs I would say that knowing a foreign language is something that is just nice to have, it would probably make you more employable, and your prospects for promotion may become more likely. But I would say, unless you really need to know a language (for example, going to live in a foreign country for an extended period of time), learn one if you're interested. If you find that learning the language is enjoyable, you'll be more likely to stick with it, and you'll most likely put more effort into the learning. My first language is English, but I am also at intermediate-level for mandarin. I think if you are enjoying studying French, go ahead! But if you don't really like it, and don't plan on having to use French in future, you may want to consider giving the advanced course a miss. Perhaps there is another language around that you would be more interested in.
