Blowing a Birthday Cake! - Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!

It's my Mom's 82nd birthday tomorrow and I am planning for a big party! Sort of thanksgiving for the Lord brought healing to her after months of being bedridden. I am planning to buy a big birthday cake that she could blow. It has always been her pleasure to blow a birthday cake after whispering her wishes. Then all of us would sing aloud the Birthday song! Ohhh! I'm already excited for tomorrow's event! How about you? Do you still blow a cake during your birthday or you find this a child thing! Well... not to me! I still love doing this!

I think it was on my 40th birthday. I don't usually get a cake on my birthday, when it's my girls' birthday i make it a point to buy them a cake. During my 40th birthday they got me a cake, they told me then that we all get to be 40 only once. Now, that i am turning 50 on the 26th my girls say that they are going to get me a cake so i can blow the candles. They even want to have a small party, because it is my 50th, we should all be thankful. Well, i am thankful to God for all the blessings he has given me through my life. Whoah, 50 years but i don't feel 50 at all.But to tell you the truth, i am a little excited for that day, because even my friends at work are planning a little celebration for me.

So you will be stepping on your golden year soon Sweetie. Same here, I also don't feel I'm in the 50's. It's good to be forever young at heart. For as long as we take care of our health and we keep a happy disposition, looking younger than our age is never too hard. I'm glad you have thoughtful children as well! And thanks for your greetings for my Mom! God bless!

Ohhh! I wish someone could have given you so you can make a big blow along with big wishes! So next birthday, I'm sure you don't need to buy for yourself, just pray that someone gives you. You will get it. That is sure!

That is such a great idea doing a grand celebration for your mom. I guess it really needs to be celebrated for that miracle you just had received from HIM. My congratulations and a happy birthday to your mom.

Wow! How sweet! I'm sure your mom will have a grand time tomorrow! I can't remember when was the last time I blew a birthday candle. I think I was in preteens then. Since my birthday falls on a season that school's still ongoing I cannot celebrate my birthdays with family. But my friends in school would a surprise for me. There's a cake but no candles to blow. They think I'm too old for that already. :D

Ohhh you are still a lot younger as compared to my Mom my friend! But I can't blame you. It depends on how you want your birthday celebrated. Blowing candles seems too ceremonious. But I find it so touching to have all loved ones gathered around while I blow my birthday cake. Thanks for sharing!

Ha!ha!ha! That was too long ago! Well good fathers would not mind if they will not celebrate their birthdays but not the birthdays of their children and wife. You are a very thoughtful person as I could sense Dong. I've seen a some fathers who would celebrate their birthdays in a drinking spree till day break but they never remember the birthdays of their children nor their wives. I'm glad you are different!

Ha!ha!ha! You're funny but I saw that very same scene in real life. That happened in my son's 3rd birthday. His cousin Mark who was a year older than him and was standing beside him near the cake blew the candle before my son could even do. My son cried hard so we have to light the candle again for him to make a blow of his own. Ha!a!ha!

Oh my long lost daughter! I've been missing you dear! And you change your Aviatar! Nice one!!! So your debut party was a memorable one! I think most of the women will agree that the debut party has always been the happiest or one of the happiest. And seeing your parents together even during your birthday is really worth a thousand happiness for a daughter like you. It's just sad that they can't be together again. Anyway, I admire you for mthe fact that the happiness remains in your heart and in your family. So I will start preparing the candles one by one till your birthday comes! ha!ha!ha!

I don't think I have ever blown a cake on birthdays. It seems our family is not fond of cakes for birthday because it's expensive. We don't usually have cakes during birthdays and when we do, it doesn't have candles. Have a nice day!

I don't remember ever having a cake with candles to blow out on my birthday. I remember only one birthday party when I was a child, and that was a disaster. Nobody had any fun. Neither I nor my mother knew how to organize a party. I got over it and moved. I eventually married a man who didn't believe in parties, or so he said. Twenty years later, he still occasionally talks about the party a neighbor organized for his 60th birthday. Sorry, I didn't mean to rain on your mother's party. Hope that both you and she have a fabulous time. Eat a piece of cake for me. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOTHER!

Oh there was no literal rain but tears of joy flooded! It was a meaningful event and my Mom enjoyed the presence of all loved ones, the showers of gifts, all the fun, the food and of cours the blowing of candles. It was a great day! There were lots of cakes in the party and I ate more than a piece. One of pieces I ate was for you! Ha!ha!ha! Thanks for sharing1

Ha!ha!ha! You are 52 now same as my age and you still will wait 23 more years to blow your next birthday candle. Common my dear that is too long, do it on your next birthday. You don't know what tomorrow holds for you so whatever you desire do it immediately. Don't consider the number of candles as burdensome but look at it as blessings! Each year added to our life is a big blessing form God so the more candles the more blessings! Hurray!

Happy belated birthday to your mom!! I think your mom would be happy blowing her 82th birthday cake. As for me my last blowing of birthday cake is long ago forgotten. I think I was 12 years old that I blow a birthday cake. After that nothing follows. We do have cake but we do not have candles in it anymore to be blow. I don’t find it a child thing it is just we don’t do it anymore. I don’t know why. I think we just got use to it somehow, though I’d still want to blow a cake once in a while in my birthdays to come.

Thanks for your greetings! Yes, my Mom was so happy on her birthday birthday and so was all of us. It was a night to remember! Yes, we tend to delete blowing the candles though there'd be cake on our birthday. I hope you'd be blowing the candle next time around. Have a nice day!

Hi. Best wishes to your mother of her birthday! The last time that I blew out the candles on my birthday cake was this last August. I turn 50 years young, and wanted to spend it out of town with my sister and my brother-in-law. She bought me a beautiful sheet cake just for us. I made a wish and blew out the 5 candles (one for every 10 year.) Yes, I didn't want 50 candles! (smile) I don't believe that this tradition is just for children. If it is, it's for the children in all of us. We only have our own special day once a year.

I just got back after a few days of not posting, so I wish to send my belated Birthday greetings to your mom. Happy Birthday! It is really nice to hear that your mom is still doing great at 82 and wish she stays longer. For me, I don't usually celebrate my birthdays now, now that I have kids. I just let them blow theirs on their birthdays. If I can remember well, I blew my last birthday cake when I was 21, before I entered marriage life.

Hi friend! Oh yes, you were out of mylot the few last days. It's good you are back! Thanks a lot for your belated greetings for my Mom. Yes, she's 32 and I thank God for that grace. So the last blowing of cake for you was 19 years ago! I understand you so well. Most parents give priorities to children's birthday more than their own. I believe ones your children are of age, it would be their turn to return the gratitude just like what I am doing now to my Mom. Thanks for sharing!

Actually cake blowing is usually paired up with surprise mini bday parties or get together. My friends would be the ones responsible for buying the cake and putting up candles for me to blow. Everything is provided, all I have to do is to make a wish, and blow the candle. It's fun you know... The thought of my friends preparing something special for me and the candle blwoing part.
