Hi
I used to use the free version of AVG and for a long time had no problems. Then "BANG" I got a biggie and I was in a mess, AVG did not remove the problem.
I chased around a few forums and one suggested the Avast free version.
You have to remove any other antivirus programs before you install.
Having installed Avast successfully I did a scan and to my horror there were 46 trojan bugs that had not been found.
That was a few months ago now and it is always there in the background and I have had no problems since.
Hope this post was a help.

AVG has messed itself up recently and I have been having corrupted ctf file and false positive issues so I am liking it less and less.
If I can find and be convinced of an at least equivalent free alternative, I would think I would be quite inclined to switch.

I am using Kaspersky Anti Virus. It's fast on my laptop and it offers a good protection.
You can surf the Web,communicate and play games easily and safely.
It protects from Trojan, virus and worms.
It also protects from keyloggers.
So try it,it's free to try.

I use Avira anti-virus and Spyware Terminator for my internet security. I have them set to run every time I turn my laptop on or when it wakes from hibernation. I found the programs through this website: http://www.techsupportalert.com/ It's great for finding free, safe software to do the same things that most paid software does. The website is updated regularly.
Hopefully this helps!

Hi dio, how are you? If you are willing to spend few bucks then I will suggest you to buy Kaspersky internet security. I bought this software for very reasonable price of INR. 500/- only(Indian rupees). My system never slowed down and I am loving this anti virus software more than any other. I had used Norton 360 is is the worst of all and later Mc Afee, but these two are very expensive. Then I tried AVG and was not happy with its protection. Avast is free open source Anti Virus but it did not give me good protection against the trojan horses and malware effects.. I recommend Kaspersky or Bit defender or Mc Afee or Anti Vira. Now the choice is yours.. all the best.. :)

Now a days, Only a good Anti Virus program does not ensure your security. You also need Anti Spyware and firewall program. So I suggest my client to use Zone Alarm Security Suite. Its a Firewall program with built in AntiVirus And Anti Spyware. I'm using Zone Alarm Security Suite for last three years. I'm Happy with that.
Kasparsky and Mcafee also a good Anti Virus program but without a firewall, its impossible to ensure your security.

Mc Afee anti virus will not stop from trojan horse attacks. I once had to end up formatting my PC because of the trojan horse attack and Mc Afee did not detect. Instead of Mc Afee Anti Virus, I will suggest Mc Afee Internet Security.

I have used a lot of antivirus and test every new software came out. I am currently using ESET NOD32 Antivirus and it performs so far very well. My previous software was AVAST.
