If you could go back to school and fix things, what grade would you have to start with? School was horrible for me. Every single year just stunk. My best year was 4th grade when I was placed in a self contained special education class. Since everyone else had issues, there was no one to make fun of me. Of course there's that whole mainstreaming crap. I was mainstreamed for "specials," like art and music, so I got messed with in those classes. In 5th grade we moved and I was put back in general education with no support services and it stayed that way until I graduated high school. I would have to go back to 5th grade with everything I know now to try and make things better (earlier grades were bad too, but from 5th on, I was in the same school district). Looking back, tons of people made fun of me, but I didn't get it then. In 6th grade on a field trip someone asked me if I was a virgin. Not knowing what it meant, I said NO! 7th grade was just all around horrible. I started the year with my mother in a different state. Mid year I came back to NY, and was harassed from day one. It started with someone asking me for a tissue (I had developed during that summer) and I didn't get it, so I just looked at him. 8-10 was just as bad, except I would skip class instead of being tormented. After 10th grade I dropped out, but was homeschooled by my step mother. I even got made fin of while being HOMESCHOOLED!!! I got pregnant that year and went to a BOCES program for teenage parents. I was in BOCES for 1 year, and managed to graduate on time with my class. BOCES was a whole different set of issues, like who could do their kids hair better, or who was sleeping with someone's baby's daddy. Loads of drama that I just tried to stay out of. I am tired of hearing how high school contained some of the best years of someone's life. How many of you are with me? School was a joke.
