I'm 5weeks pregnant and as early as two weeks ago, I'm experiencing a lot of different things going on inside my body. One of those things are food cravings. I used to have a sweet tooth, but now, I'm always craving for anything tangy or salty or spicy, nothing specific but it has to be just has to have the right amount saltiness or tanginess or spiciness. I just had a snack of homemade spicy tuna sandwich and toasted garlic bits. That hit just the right spot. What about you, are you pregnant? Any food cravings? When you were pregnant, do you have any specific taste or a particular food that you are always craving for?

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I did have cravings when I was pregnant. For my first prenancy I craved dill pickle chips, can't eat them now though. My second I craved fish which I never liked but couldn't get enough of, I ate it all the time. My third pregnancy I craved apple crisp, yummy! the strangest thing though was that for all 3 pregnancies I occasionally (and this is disgusting) brushed my teeth then drank orange juice, and I loved it!

Drinking OJ after brushing sounds unappetizing to me... hehehe... I think I'm not going to try it while pregnant. My barf reflex is in high time these days... :) I haven't tried those dill pickle chips nor apple crisps. I don't think we have it here in the Philippines, but I'll be sure to look for them and try them when I go to the US in time for my delivery. Thanks!

When I was pregnant with my first child, 34 years ago, I was always craving salty foods too. Especially plain potato chips. Then with my second child, 26 years ago, I craved ice cream all of the time. I ate ice cream a lot. I have ever since craved for ice cream even without being pregnant. Congratulations on your pregnancy. Is it your first child? How exciting for you. Are you hoping for a boy or girl? Do you have any names picked out yet? Is your boyfriend, or husband, happy about it too? Is it also his first? I hope your pregnancy goes well for you, my friend. Good luck and keep us informed how your pregnancy is going.

I will hope for you too, that it is twins, a boy and a girl. That would be cool.

Hi! Thanks! Yup, it's going to be our first baby. My husband is more excited than I am. As soon as I tested positive, my husband insisted that I take a leave from work. So, it's 11 months of nothing to do! At least, I discovered myLot, so I can blog all day if I want too. I'm actually hoping for twins but a singleton (that's what they called it at babycenter.com) would be welcome as well. Hopefully, if they're twins, it's a boy and a girl! One time Bigtime baby! :) We don't have names picked out yet. We're actually finding it hard to find the perfect name. I'm thinking along the lines of picking baby names when I see their faces. lol ... We're very hopeful that it's going to be a successful pregnancy for us. When I had the ultrasound it was just a sac with nothing in it and another one that could be another sac or else just a shadow of the first one, so I have to do it again after 2 weeks. Crossing my fingers!

I guess I was strange, I didn't really have any cravings when I was pregnant. My sister craved McDonald's when she was pregnant with her son, and mexican food when pregnant with her daughter. It is really different for everyone I think!

Well, I hate to admit it but I was never sick either! Never had any morning sickness. Was just tired a lot. Disgusting isn't it. I was only able to have one pregnancy though - health problems. If not I probably would have had lots since I had it so easy (though not all might have been)??!!

With my oldest (my son) I drank Orange juice like it was going out of style! With all that vitamin c and d I joke that he was born with a suntan. It's funny but with my youngest (daughter) I had heartburn throughout the entire pregnancy and orange juice would have killed me! I don't remember having any major cravings when I was carrying her but I do remember keeping a ginormous bottle of Tums with me wherever I went.

At least, you craved for something healthy. I better start doing that too. With the tums, at least, you didn't lack any calcuim.... and if your son was born with a suntan, then your daughter must have been born walking! lol

I already have three children. Each time during my pregnancy, I don't really crave for specific food. However, because I am thinking that the baby inside me must get all the nutrition through me, most of the food I eat are healthy foods. There are fruits I don't usually eat but whenever I am pregnant, I eat all the fruits I see, particularly papaya. My mother also says seafoods like clamps, mussels, and tuna are best for pregnant women because of iron and protein. Books also help me in choosing food to eat. I read that sardines is best for pregnancy because of calcium. Spicy food triggers contractions. Other than this, I really don't have what they call psychological cravings. Good luck in your pregnancy!

Hey, thanks for this post... Yup, it's very important to eat healthy while being pregnant, and I'm trying my best to do so. But I'm thinking it's going to be hard if I start craving for really unhealthy food... hopefully, I won't though.

I didn't crave anything specific during my pg's. Though for some reason I wanted a cheese pocket & another time a ice cream sandwich but it wasn't something I was just going nutty w/o KWIM? I did have aversions w/ my first.... the smell of cooked meat made my stomach churn & that was hard for dh to comprehend cause he thought I hated his cooking..... wich I normally loved it was just the smell & beef stew made me sick reminded me of up-chuck. EW!

Congrats!!!! Your craving for salt is concerning especially this early in your pregnancy, Please try to limit the salt intake it can cause problems in your pregnancy. Later down the line you will find the spicy food will cause you to have lots of heartburn. My first child I craved pizza boy did I pack on the weight my second was oreo cookies ... he is a sweetie My third was chinese food, any kind I could get my hands on My fourth child was fruits which shocked the heck outta me lol My fifth are you ready for this.. it was ice, I always had to have ice to chew on it drove everyone in my family crazy and here it is 8 years later and I still chomp on ice.

Oh my gosh, really? Huhu... I feel depress when I don't get my cravings fulfilled. Maybe, I'll just stick with green, sour mangoes... hmmm... thank you for this, I'll try to limit my salt intake and maybe, I could just opt for mildly spicy food like curry and not eat small fresh chillies... huhu... it depresses me just to think about it.

Well congrats to you. I know that when I was pregnant with my first baby for the first 3 to 4 months I could hardly eat I was so sick. All I could eat were tomatoe and mayonaise sandwiches. But once I was over the sickness it was big macs. My second pregnancy I had no cravings just hated anything greasy. My third it was slurpees and yeas my fourth was also slurpees go figure. I just got lucky and had no major crazy cravings.

lol... at least I don't think you packed on weight during your pregnancy if all your eating are slurpees... I barely started my first trimester and I gained 8pounds already! Well, I read in babycenter.com, that if you get enough of vitB1, you wouldn't feel nauseated at all, so maybe its working for me. I still get gagging reflexes but it stops just as soon as it starts. Lucky me! Thanks for posting!

I crave cafeteria like foods fromhighschool and onlythose foods. I dont want to eat anything else. The foods that dont taste like foods I guess, lol. I cant explain it but it happened in both of my pregnacies, one of which is going on now.
