i quit 9 years ago and never looked back. i was just too worried about the physical consequences to continue and it has also gotten so expensive. i gained alot of weight when i quit too and i never really got a handle on that. i guess you switch one addiction for another. so if you quit do you miss it or are you glad you quit?

i was just really scared of dying of lung cancer and that was the strongest motivator for me. i also wanted to have a baby and i knew i had to quit to get pregnant and i also knew i would never want to be a smoker around my child. good luck to you!

I still smoke, but I'm looking forward to quitting totally sometime soon. Maybe when I do quit, I will finally gain that weight I've been wishing to gain for ages! Just like you, I am concerned about the physical consequences in the future. It is rather difficult for me, since my hubby is a smoker too, but I really want to quit. It would probably be a lot easier if he decided to quit too. Wish me luck, and when I quit, I don't want to miss it at all!

Congratulations on your decision! :) I am not and have never been a smoker but my husband was. I'm glad though that he has already stopped by the time I met him. Because if he was still as smoker then, I would probably have not fell in love with him LOL. No offense to smokers out there but I do believe in the adage that "kissing a smoker must be like licking an ashtray" :p But that's just my opinion.
