I have an officemate who confessed to me that he's been sustaining an online relationship with this girl. He said he feels that they have both fallen in love with each other. HOWEVER, my officemate is married and his online girlfriend don't even know his REAL NAME. Now he is bothered because they've been going on for six months.

It sounds as if he's obsessed with this alleged woman--it's tough to have a true relationship with someone you've never seen. That is the reason I won't date online--people (in general) DO lie, and if you can't see their eyes, it's awfully hard to know if they're lying.

Hmmm... I suppose. But it's a gamble really. There are probably just as much as dating online success stories as there are failed relationships... Although I've to agree that there are more who are just for a quick online w*** and are not really entertaining the possibility of a serious relationship eventually ensuing.

Well, I have always been honest when talking to other people in conversations, generally. But I have lied about my address or other personal information like phone numbers in the past. Well, also, if I buy something online one day, I was thinking of putting Batman as my name, just to see if that's what they would put on the package.

Of course. I don't think it's safe to divulge personal infos on the internet especially since there are just too many scammers online. I suppose it does depend on what you're doing, whom you're talking to, etc. etc.

I don't think I have ever lied online. I have purposely left information out of the conversation with some people, but I never really lied. I think maybe once I said I was a school student when I graduated or something like that.
