why is it that you always seem to forget the name of the persot you've just been aquainted with?

I guess this is all about the temporarily memory and the long term memory. When you hear a name and are not concious about wanting to remember it, it will go into your short term memory. You'll loose it again in no time. Same thing happens if you are trying to remember a phone number you are only dialing once (like when you are calling a certain company for example, or when ordering flowers). Short term becomes long term once you start putting effort in remembering it for a longer period of time, by repeating and coming up with easy ways to remember stuff. someone told me thet you are so concentrated to say your own name that you dont't think of the other persons name.
