My boyfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for the past year and a half. We're definitely not breaking up any time soon unless something extreme gets in the way. So yeah, I'd say it works as long as you're willing to put the effort into it. Heck, if you really care about the person, you'd *make* it work. Although, I know it's not that easy.
Many people can't take not being able to hug or simply give a reassuring smile to their loved ones. It's completely understandable and I don't looks at those that can't handle long distance relationships as weak or anything. As long as they don't call those involved in one pathetic, they're cool in my books. ^_^

i think it will work out for some, but definetely not for me.I have tried it several times but none of them worked.Even though the two of us were trying our best to make our relationship last,it doesn't.for it to work, one must sacrifice and choose to move in (or nearer) his loveone.Distance makes love grow fonder,if and only if the distance last for about a month or two,but more than that,it will be pretty pretty hard. For those who are surviving a distant relationship,a bid round of applause for you guys. For sure both of you are trting their best to keep the love alive.I admire you.And im praying for you guys to have the streth to be able to surpass the perils of a long distance relationship.
Bless you guys.

long distance relationships would need a lot of patience, trust and love to work. patience for time, patience for personal touch, patience for attention. etc. trust to your partner and trusting yourself that you will not fall to somebody else. Love to your partner and love for your relationship.
if you have all these, it will work, i can guarantee you that. many people have already survived this kind of relationship. it's a test of true love.
interested in trying it? i have experienced it. though, there are a lot of times that i want to let go. it's still the love i have for the person that keeps me holding on.

I live in the mid-west and met someone in Vegas who lived in Colorado. Talk about a long distance relationship. It was the best thing, though, to being forced to talk on the phone and computer and really get to know each other. Long story short, she moved to be with me and we are now married for almost five years now. Long distance relationships work? You bet.
