hi ahvhec! Fiesta is an occasion which is truly celebrated in our barrio.Preaprations are made by the whole community . Colorful "Banderitas" are attached along the streets a week before the occasion. The community also prepares a stage where local talents as well as some showbiz personalities are invited to perform. Each household also busies themselves by preparing food(lots of food) for their visitors.People from nearby communities as well as relatives travel to be able to visit our home to eat and catch up with the things happening in each lives."Tiange"(bazaars) are also put up.There are really many things enjoyable during this occasion. That makes the Philippines different from other countries, though i guess some countries celebrate Fiesta's like the way that we do.

Fiesta here in our city is very grand because there are 2 occasions which are the charter day on the 1st day and the religious fiesta on the 2nd day. There are parades, street dancing, a carnival ride, food festival, trade fair, garden show, dog show, etc. Then most homes have celebration like in a party where there are plenty of food. I don't do that in my home but I go to friends homes who have food galore.

It been sometime when I last attended a grand fiesta back home. Before we were living in the province in a small city. Fiesta there was really grand and I could remember my Grandparents really did prepare lots of foods for visitors familiar or not familiar are being welcome to eat and dine with us. This tradition has been with us for sometime until my grandparents passed away. Ever since then the celebrations became a much more personalized celebration and close family and friends are invited to the celebration. It was not as grand as before. Now I lived in the metropolis and seldom do I see Fiestas as grand as I experienced before in my province.

We celebrate fiesta similar to yours, well I think it's just the way it is here in the Philippines. We have sumptuous foods of all kinds, drinks, plus the nightly shows and the well-celebrated ball games during the day. The best thing about fiestas is it's the time when relatives and family members from afar go home and reunite with each other.
