i hav turnoff problem on my laptop ????

hello friends......recentli i m unable to turnoff my laptop......also i can get restart.....only i hav to switch it offfrom direct power button....can anybody help me out here????

Which Laptop do you use? What is the operating system? Since when is this happening? Did you make any changes to the lapy? Did install or uninstall any program? What exactly happens? Reply to this. I am a certified Microsoft Technician working for Tech Support for 3 years. May be I can help you.

i m using compaq presario laptop....xp2 is the operating system.....i didnt make any changes....i hav alreading running avast antivirus....it was also updated ....but before 2 days avast has blocked some attaks....one line is shown below on rhs of scrren that avast has blocked some networks attacks......i dont remmember much abt that line.....

Suggestions:
1) Try to boot the lapy in safe mode. See if it works. If it does then it is some kind of service which is affecting the PC.
2) Try to disable (don't uninstall it now, only disable it)avast, see if it works. (I will suggest the latest version of AVG)
Please let me know what happens.
