I have this friend that I have known since we were 8 years old (about 15 years). We used to be really close. I introduced her to her now husband because he was friends with my husband. I dont know what it is but i feel like she is always trying to compete with me or something. Whenever we get a new car, they get a new car. When i got a perm, she got a perm. When I was 5 months pregnant with my first baby she announced that she was pregnant. I got pregnant with my next child four years later, and when I was 8 months pregnant she again announced her pregnancy. I mean she had four years to have another baby or any other time after, we are both still young. Why did she choose the time that I was pregnant to get pregnant? She says that she did not want to get pregnant but she was doing nothing to prevent it. I just feel like she was afraid that I was getting a little bit more attention than her so she had to do something to get attention too. That is the kind of person she is. Have you ever had a friend like this? How did you handle it?

I think you're reading too much into it! Maybe she just felt like that if you were having kids, she should probably start so she won't be too old when she has hers. Or she wants her kids to be friends with yours when they grow up! I wouldn't worry about it much. Try to have fun together so there won't be any tension between you too. Good luck!

I don't necessarily think she is competing with you or trying to one up you in any way. She may just admire or look up to you. You got your hair permed, and she wants to be like you. It's a possibility.

I agree, I don't think that she's neccesarily competing with you. I mean maybe she wants her kids to be friends like you guys were when you were young and to grow up together like you did.
