A prophet or a teacher usually quote the holy teachings from a religious scripture to convince the people of his sermons. However, their deeds, behavior, life style, and expressions do not often reflect the truths and sermons they teach. Who is really a true teacher or a prophet? How do one recognize a true teacher or Guru who can transform one's life and show the right path to achieve one's spiritual goal?

True teacher is the truth itself. If truth have realised itself in a humen body than this person might end up trying to explane the same truth to somebody else who wants to fid it. World is full of unrealised teachers who are mind driven not truth driven.
Keep looking if you fiil like you should. Send me a message I'll introduse you to few realised teachers who can give you strong signposts in direction of the truth.
Thank you!

In "Bhagavad-Gita As It Is," there are detailed descriptions of the qualities of a true teacher of spiritual knowledge. There have been so many individuals who claim to be self-realized souls, but who have an agenda, and are not pure-hearted, and do not exhibit the true qualities of a pure spiritual master. One who is situated in Truth has the potency to transform the life of anyone who takes shelter of them, and to show them true spiritual knowledge. One who has taken shelter of such a pure teacher, experiences true self-realization, and pure love of God. They lose all taste for material pleasures, they realize their divine qualities of compassion, detachment, intelligence, fearlessness, humility, and true love for all living things. This is the proof of the purity of the teacher, seeing the results in the students.

Well I would say anyone that didn't have God's power in their hands to heal the sick and such was not a true Christian teacher. Jesus said anyone that didn't have these powers were not true believers. I would think anyone would have to be a true believer to be a true teacher.
